He is apparently demanding $7M a year right now. Down a little from earlier in the off season. Not very Canadian of him...Gaucho wrote:Yer crazy.
Anyway, CBJ and Johansen are said to be $3 million apart?

I'm sure he could $7 million a year on a 7-year deal. On a 2-year deal, though ... no way.Jim wrote:He is apparently demanding $7M a year right now. Down a little from earlier in the off season. Not very Canadian of him...Gaucho wrote:Yer crazy.

Re: Canaan's thread of NPR chaos.
I love RyJo. He's the new Getzlaf. That said, it's not quite as dramatic as some are making it out to be in the media. They are much further apart on the long-term deal, the short-term deal - AIUI - is closer to $2 million apart right now...I'm guessing it will end up at around 2 years, $4.5 million per or so. But that won't happen before the preseason starts I don't believe...
Alex Pietrangelo lasted to just a little short of this time a year or two ago when his deal came up. They came to a long-term deal and all was well...these things happen.

Are you saying you have better sources than Dan Rosen?

Re: Canaan's thread of NPR chaos.
Pietrangelo wasnt a similar situation though, he had played 3 full effective nhl seasons. The blue jackets are simply asking that johansen gets to that point before they give him money. Doing what the blue jackets are asking him to do worked out pretty well for subban. If he thinks hes worth 49/7 now, hes going to be worth more than that with another year like last year.

Certainly not. I don't know what he said exactly. I know I've seen some doom and gloom floating around by some. But I got a little blurb on this negotiation from someone who would know about it and it was a little more optimistic. May be incorrect, but there's more than one way to skin a cat...Gaucho wrote:Are you saying you have better sources than Dan Rosen?

Johansen is the type of center teams drool over. He knows this and is taking advantage of it. He knows CBJ will pay him because after him it's...uhhh...Anisimov?...Dubinsky?...Letestu? Woof. And their pipeline is very weak at center.

Bet we see $7m-8m over 2 years.
I think if I was RJ, I would angle for $5m per at < 5 years.

Apparently they (RJ and agent) don't want to waste his UFA years on a long contract now, but want the money that a long-term contract would bring.

Thomas Vanek connected to ongoing federal gambling investigation
http://www.whec.com/news/stories/S3510092.shtml?cat=565" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;A new development in the ongoing federal gambling investigation in Rochester. A law enforcement source tells News10NBC that former Amerk and Buffalo Sabres star Thomas Vanek is connected to the investigation tied to the Marina Restaurant and Bar in Charlotte.
On Monday morning, News10NBC got a call saying Vanek walked in the federal court building downtown. When he and his lawyer walked out two hours later, we had a crew there waiting to talk to the hockey star.
Let's be clear. Thomas Vanek is not charged with any crime and he voluntarily came to the federal court building with his lawyer. But our law enforcement sources say he's connected to that gambling investigation.
