I like the tripping change. You're impeding the player's progress, regardless if you touch the puck or not. I'm not really sure why that was even a caveat originally, since it wasn't really called well enough. A trip is a trip.

The Video Goal Judge change is nice, could keep stuff like that goal that went in off of Quick's back from high up in the netting from counting.

The Spin-O-Rama rule seems odd. Sounds like something the NFL would do. "Hey guys, I see you're having fun and giving the fans what they want. Stop."

I want to see the languate for the spin-o-rama goal in 24.2 before I worry about it.

Edit:
The spin-o-rama type move where the player completes a 360° turn as he approaches the goal, shall be permitted as this involves continuous motion. However, should the puck come to a complete stop at any time during the shot attempt, the shot shall be stopped and no goal will be the result.
Kind of strange that they would outlaw it. I could understand them subjecting it to the forward movement rule, but I don't really care.

I think it's good. I've never understood why "getting to the puck first" makes tripping allowable. The whole reason why tripping is a penalty is because it's a dangerous play. Getting to the puck first doesn't make it less dangerous.

Is it the hockey equivilant of showing up the pitcher? Seriously don't get why a goalie in particular would dislike it. I haven't played goal since JV, but can't you just either wait for them to finish (if they're far away) or poke check it out (if they're close)?

I don't think most old rules are safety rules. I think it exists as a matter of impeding progress. I don't really like the rule because it basically takes away the ability to defend if someone gets half a step on you. hashtagnofunleague

It's a difficult play to make, so I thought it was good that you could be rewarded to doing it without getting a penalty, although I guess not giving someone a penalty shot sort of still does that.

I think you'll definitely see more dives when defensemen go down, even with the new fine system or whatever it is.

Welcome back to the NHL, Ruslan Fedotenko....maybe.

http://www.nj.com/devils/index.ssf/2014 ... youts.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Ruslan Fedotenko, the former Rangers and Flyers left winger who has been playing in Russia's KHL, will attend Devils training camp as an unsigned tryout.

General manager Lou Lamoriello confirmed that Fedotenko, 35, as well as right winger Jordin Tootoo, will both be in camp with PTO deals.

Fedotenko, 6-2, 195 pounds, played in the KHL last season for HC Donbass. He scored 17 points (7 goals, 10 assists) in 46 games with 42 penalty minutes.

"He's been working out. We've talked to him over the years. We had interest years ago," Lamoriello said. "He wanted to come. Maybe a contract didn't work out somewhere else. He will make our camp very competitive and give us three quality groups for practice."
He's coming back to complete his tour of the former Atlantic Division

What's more likely: Ruslan signs with NJ or Jagr ends up with the Islanders?

They both are looking to complete the circuit.

I doubt you'll find a picture of it...but no it wasn't anything that would get you trouble at work...he was just dressed inappropriately for the event...it was described to me once as "something Ali G might wear"

If Fedotenko makes the Devils maybe he'll "crash" the net when Varlamov is in goal.

Speaking of the Devils, their forwards look like an all-star roster from 2006. What the hell is Lou thinking?

Mike Cammalleri ($5.000m) / Travis Zajac ($5.750m) / Jaromir Jagr ($3.500m)
Tuomo Ruutu ($3.800m) / Patrik Elias ($5.500m) / Michael Ryder ($3.500m)
Dainius Zubrus ($3.100m) / Adam Henrique ($4.000m) / Martin Havlat ($1.500m)
Ryane Clowe ($4.850m) / Jacob Josefson ($0.800m) / Stephen Gionta ($0.850m)
Damien Brunner ($2.500m)
Steve Bernier ($0.600m)

Where does Fedex fit in? Maybe we can steal Stefan Matteau from them... since they obviously don't have any room for him.

That wouldn't really be theft...

My guess is Havlat isn't an every day player. Bernier plays over Gionta...and Ryder is shopped.
