The fact that so many wrestlers die at a young age is disturbing.

Is it? I mean, you see what they do in and out of the ring, right?

Maybe they shouldn't be doing it (and pumping themselves full of crap)?

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. They fly around throwing their body at everything, and their insides are toxic sludge.

I loved him in The Longest Yard (not Adam Sandler related).

I knew he was a big dude, but had no idea he was 7'2. Happy Gilmore was the first movie I see in theaters without the accompaniment of an adult, so obviously it was a big part of my childhood. RIP Mr. Larson.

I'm actually surprised he lived as long as he did. I read stuff a long time ago that he had problems. If you look at some scenes of Happy Gilmore, you can see him leaning on people for support. Godspeed.

I met him a couple years ago and he was in rough shape. Very nice guy but it definitely seemed like he was hurting. RIP

tifosi77 wrote:So i got a text from my mom..... my father passed away on Friday. I had no relationship with him whatsoever. I didn't even have enough of a relationship with him to say 'good riddance' with any authority. My mom might as well have told me that her neighbor, Hank, died. Don't know Hank, either.

The only two times he and I were even in the same place was a hearing to make him keep paying child support while I was in college, and the subsequent court trial about six weeks later when he appealed the hearing officer's ruling to have him pay $20 every two weeks. When he was caught forging evidence, the judge increased the award to $26.52 every two weeks. At that first hearing, his first words to me - the first words he ever spoke to me - were "Why you don't get off your lazy *** and get a job to support yourself?" I didn't need the money, but I got satisfaction knowing that when he got his paycheck and it was $26.52 less, he at least thought of me.

I feel absolutely nothing about this news, other than the uncomfortable perspective it brings that I'm now the age when you have to worry about parents dying.
First, I know where you're coming from.
Second, I feel you're pain in your typing and wish I could do something for you.
Last, take solace in the fact that you've turned out to be a super cool guy. Everyone on here loves your posts and your knowledge of a variety of subjects. You seem like you'd be a great person to hang with.
If you would've spent more time around him, you might not have turned out so well. You know how kids take on many of their parents traits. Thats how I look at it anyway. Enough blabbering.

Double whammy this morning.

Former Titans kicker Rob Bironas (36) in a car accident.

Only got married in June. How horrible. I always liked Bironas. Spent two years in the AFL and was cut by three NFL teams (including the Steelers), before turning into a Pro Bowl kicker with the Titans.

Saw a Bironas jersey on a dude in Vilnius once. You'd be amazed at how much Lithuanians celebrate ANYONE with ties to the country. The guy has probably never seen an American football game in his life, but you better believe he rocked that Titans jersey with serious pride.

Bummer about Bironas. I was always a fan. Had him on my fantasy team for two years, the guy was automatic. Had him on his record setting day. :(
