Well, it is, technically. It's a Thursday edition of NBCs SNF. Which means you get an extra dose of smarmy Bob Costas and drunken Al.

DirecTV is listing it as Packers @ Seahawks, fwiw.

I like emails in the subject line, saves my eyes from looking down and sometimes even clicking because it will pop up for a brief few seconds over whatever I have open and am working on.

Just curious if anyone has or known anyone who was in accident during a Pittsburgh Left? Curious because I assume the car turning left is determined to be at fault by official parties?

Still do that, but only when talking to them. If referring to them to others, I say my mom and dad.

That's OK but the woman in the cubicle across from me is like talking to a 7 year old.

In terms of insurance, both are at fault/no fault. You have to have control of your vehicle at all times, regardless of whether someone cuts in front of you or not.

But by rule, don't the people making the left turn have to yield to people going through the light? So, wouldn't that make the person turning left at fault?

Philosophically, sure. But that's the point of no fault insurance. Not tying up the courts with he said/she said. As the person going straight you could bury the throttle and let the power of self-righteousness propel through their broadside but you wouldn't gain anything from it in the settlement.

When entering the turnpike I can't stand people that use the acceleration lane to slow down and sometimes come to a stop before pulling onto the turnpike. It's on a downgrade for a reason, so you can get up to speed and slide effortlessly into traffic. By slowing down to 35-40 mph you're at a much greater risk for a wreck.

Differential of Speed is the most dangerous thing on the highway. I've got on my soap box about it many times here.

It irritates me to no end when I get on 79 in the morning going to work. It seems I'm always behind some guy who's doing 50 mph trying to merge into traffic doing 65. The ramp is for you to get up to the speed of traffic.

There's an on-ramp to the 405 S that dumps cars straight into the #4 traffic lane with no merge/blend space whatsoever. It's a downgrade, which means cars are unsighted by drivers already on the freeway.

And the geniuses at CalTrans also thought this ramp would be suitable for a light. You have like 100' to accelerate up to freeway speed.

And what if you're in the acceleration lane going 65ish and a string of tractor trailers are driving bumper to bumper at 55mph making it impossible for you to merge? That happens at least 25% of the time I get on the pike heading west out of Somerset.

Accelerate to 75mph and proceed up the shoulder until you find an opening. It can't take that long. Maybe 1000 yards or so.
