Not always my cup of tea, but she was a hugely important figure in stand up comedy. RIP

Apparently the clinic where she was having surgery is being investigated.

JR really worked right up till the end there. I'm not sure whether to feel happy or sad for folks like that. I defintately want my last ~10-15 years to be pretty relaxed, can't imagine working that hard right up till the end. Anyone know if that surgery was elective?

Also, Howard Stern is screwed. She was the boilerplate booking when no one else was available, she was on about 15 times a year and he only does about 120 shows.

My understanding was that it was some kind of elective and relatively minor throat procedure.

RIP Joan
I figured it was coming when they said they had moved her out of ICU and were "making her as comfortable as possible"

Super group usually has a specific meaning and I was always puzzled as to how that applied to them.
Yes, but they were also on one of those lame dozen-click lists of "One Hit Wonders" which is equally untrue.

I thought he had throat problems (polyps, maybe?) and had to take a year+ off to recuperate and the band replaced him.
Not that it means he's not a jag but the recent shows they were playing had both of them, so apparently they reconciled.

So is it Robin Williams, Jimi Jamison and Joan Rivers or were they too spread out?

Williams, Bacall, Jamison. Either that or two couplets of Williams-Bacall and Jamison-Rivers.

The outpatient clinic where she had the procedure done is being investigated. Don't know if her case alone prompted it, or if the clinic has a history of incidents.

Indeed she did. She was hysterically funny and sharp until the very end.

Comics from all genres paying their last respects on twitter. She commanded a lot of respect from them.

Followed up on this, it's SOP when there's a major complication at an outpatient surgical facility. The investigation is being conducted by the New York State Health Department, and apparently was already in the works before she passed.

RIP Joan. My first exposure to her was as the nararator of "Letterman" on The Electric Company.

Just read that Gene Wilder was the voice of Letterman and Zero Mostel the voice of Spellbinder.
