James Harrison met with the Cardinals today. Arians loves former Steelers.

Re: Official 2014-2015 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
Lots of position battles going into the final preseason game. Who will get the final WR spot?. Will the Steelers keep a fourth running back? Should Landry Jones exist? How many linebackers will be kept and who will they be? Jesus, are those really their cornerbacks?
Dickie Dunn's Projected Final 53:
Offense (25):
QB (3): Roethlisberger, Gradkowski, Jones
RB (3): Bell, Blount, Archer
FB (1): Johnson
WR (6): Brown, Wheaton, Moore, Brown, Heyward-Bey, Bryant
TE (3): Miller, Spaeth, Paulson
OL (9): Beachum, Foster, Pouncey, DeCastro, Gilbert, Adams, Wallace, Whimper, Johnson
Defense (25):
DL (6): Heyward, McLendon, Tuitt, Thomas, McCullers, Keisel
LB (9): Worilds, Shazier, Timmons, Jones, Moats, Spence, Williams, Garvin, HoJo
CB (5): Ike, Allen, Gay, McCain, Blake
S (5): Polamalu, Mitchell, Thomas, Allen, Golden
Specialists (3):
K: Suisham
P: TBD
LS: Warren
Notes:
- Landry Jones sucks. I wouldn't keep him on the roster, but I think they will.
- Jones could be dumped to pick up a fourth running back or a seventh defensive lineman once everyone makes their cuts.
- Kept six WRs because of Bryant's potential, but he's unlikely to contribute at all this year. Fifth spot could go to Heyward-Bey or Moye, but I think Wee Bey offers a better veteran option.
- Third TE could very well be Palmer over Paulsen, but who cares.
- O-Line backups suck and it doesn't really matter who the hell they keep.
- In recent years the Steelers have kept seven defensive lineman on the roster, but I don't see anyone worth keeping past those six. I expect Brian Arnfelt and/or Josh Mauro to be added to the practice squad.
- Howard Johnson's potential ends the Chris Carter experiment. This team is ridiculously thin at OLB.
- Jesus, those corners.
- I expect them to pick up a punter after all cuts are made. Don't see Brad Wing being their guy.
- Another factor into the fate of Landry Jones is the health of Greg Warren. Steelers aren't going to just cut him loose, so if he can't go in the early part of the season, I expect them to carry two long snappers.

I would assume that Warren to PUP list would be the route theyd pursue, but thats strictly conjecture.

11. Pittsburgh Steelers: 2.5
Last year's most average team needs everything to improve a little bit.

He's not eligible for the PUP list because PUP list rules are weird. To be put on the regular season PUP list a player has to have been placed on the preseason PUP list and a player can only be placed on the preseason PUP list going into training camp. Once a player takes part in a practice or preseason game, they're no longer eligible.canaan wrote:I would assume that Warren to PUP list would be the route theyd pursue, but thats strictly conjecture.
Warren could be placed on IR with the "designated to return" tag and could return after week eight, but he's only expected to miss the first two weeks max and it prevents them from using that tag on a more important player if another injury occurs.

Jones is probably the worst quarterback I have ever seen in a Steelers uniform.

Jones doesn't have a strong enough arm to overthrow anyone.Rocco wrote:Shane Boyd waves while he's overthrowing you.Dickie Dunn wrote:Jones is probably the worst quarterback I have ever seen in a Steelers uniform.

I take comfort in knowing our scrubs are better than another team's scrubs. See you boys in week 4. Though I'm quite positive the result is going to be embarrassingly reversed.

Backup defense isn't that bad. 3rd and 4th string QBs would be lucky to beat out Chad Voytik. Neither team showing anything at all.FreeCandy44 wrote:Not even watching....how bad is it on da stillers end?

The sad thing is, I'm going to be saying the same thing for our first team all season. (Talking Panthers here)

CB/diamond in the rough B.W. Webb claimed off waivers. LB/cheapshotting turd Jordan Zumwalt on IR. This season just took a turn for the better.

What made Cowboys cut him after one season? 4.46 time in 40. Hopefully LeBeau's D is a better fit for the W&M alum.

I read B dub was outplayed by some undrafted rookie in Cowboys camp. And he has a hip flexor that would've prevented playing the last preseason games. The Cowboys wanted to slip him through waivers and add him to the practice squad.

Haha i see the steelers picked up BW Webb. If Lebeau can teach him how to cover and tackle, he'll be good. Those are the only things missing from his game.
