For you Unibroue enthusiasts: what do you think of Trois Pistoles and Maudite? BA has them listed as BSDAs, which I like. I've only tried Fin du Monde which was not my thing.

I like both. I like Maudite a little more. Richer flavor.Eismann wrote:For you Unibroue enthusiasts: what do you think of Trois Pistoles and Maudite? BA has them listed as BSDAs, which I like. I've only tried Fin du Monde which was not my thing.

The Allagash went quite well with chorizo tacos.

I agree. Those beer types really aren't up my alley, but liked maudite.llipgh2 wrote:I like both. I like Maudite a little more. Trois Pistoles was excellent, as their beers tend to be. I don't think I've tried the Maudite yet.

Definitely try one. Unibroue brews have a pretty distinctive flavor, so if you find you like one, I'd say there's a good chance you'll like the other.Eismann wrote:For you Unibroue enthusiasts: what do you think of Trois Pistoles and Maudite? I probably prefer Trois Pistoles, personally.

B&B all the way. We stayed at the Landmark Inn, highly recommended. Great location, great people, couldn't ask for more. Everyone on the staff was very accommodating and easy to talk to for ideas on where to go.eddysnake wrote:Sigwolf wrote:I did that this past spring... it was awesome.eddysnake wrote:I haven't had a bad experience yet with Ommegang. I especially enjoy their witte. I'm already planning a B&B getaway in cooperstown to see the brewery.
you do a hotel or B&B?

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
My wife loves Crabbie's ginger beer. We've tried Penn's offering, but it's not up to her standards. Just got Sprecher's Hard Ginger Beer, and it's second, but not close to Crabbie's in her estimation.
As an aside, Settler's Ridge has plenty of Pumkings for $8 per bomber.

My sisters love Crabbie's. I wasn't big on it myself. Penn's Ginger Beer has no flavor... they should stick to what they're good at, IMO... good German-style wheats and lagers. Sprecher's basically tastes like alcoholic Ginger Ale. They do a root beer as well that is good, albeit a bit too sweet.

Having the Trois Pistoles now, and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. The fruitiness is palatable because of the balance against the malt, not hops. Plus, it doesn't linger or get stronger.Kraftster wrote:Definitely try one. Started on the Maudite. Nice character. More in the common Belgium caramel/syrup color, though a bit redder. A touch more bitter, but not a strong aftertaste. Quite smooth. Experience-wise, I think I like Trois Pistoles better, but am not kicking this out of bed for eating crackers. Good stuff.

Had it a month or two ago and it was very enjoyable. Wheat beers usually aren't kenny the kangaroo's thing but the next time this gentleman comes across foggy goggle it will be purchased again.MRandall25 wrote:I like Fat Head's Goggle Fogger

Another observation on Unibroue beers. I prefer them to be fairly warmed when I drink them. Across the board, I think.

Tried this over the weekend, thought it was very meh. The flavor was very non-distinctive, there just wasn't much to it

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
It only had a very light bourbon taste to it. The bartender was telling me how strong she thought it was so I was a bit wary at first. I've tried things that were much stronger than this. I think that's why I didn't have a 2nd one. Switched to Lancaster Milk Stout which is just an incredible beer

Kern River Just outstanding IPA was just as the name suggests. Started and ended with tropical sweetness, nice pine taste in between, just perfect on every level. Easily makes my top 10 IPA list.
