conference calls with people who dont usually do conference calls
- dont say your name. especially if you leave early
- if you are saying your name, be sure you know which of your pseudonyms you will be using so i dont hear "CINDY AND UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH TERRY"
- keep your cell phone on mute so i dont have hear WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH in the background the whole time
- dont keep your cell phone right next to the phone you are using. its really doing to hear 'DING' every time you get an email

philadelphia strikes again with its constant need to latch onto a local hero. this time in the form of whatever little league team was on TV last night. it's not as bad as the jersey suburbs jumping on the joe flacco bandwagon, the girl who played basketball for delware, or the smarty jones thing from 2004, but good god...what do any of these people (or horses) have to do with you or your horrible lives?

I was going to say the same thing. This town had a huge party for Hines Ward when he won dancing with the stars for goodness sakes.

Yes, and the news stations around here treated it like a super bowl victory... they made it a HUGE deal. It was kind of pathetic haha.

Here's a repeat. I live in a neighborhood where the houses are fairly close, not as close as some but close. Neighbor said today: "we are having people over for an end of summer bash tomorrow. Kids will probably be out till midnight or so. Hope that does not bother you."

It does. I'd have told her so or at least hinted at it. Fortunately my wife was the one who was told and was neighborly about it.

5 year olds still running around screaming in (basically) my backyard at midnight? Really? They do this 3-4 times a year and it is tiresome.

I need to move to the country and have no neighbors.

It's a weekend. It's summer. It's closer to 11pm than midnight grandpa.

Meh, I give them until midnight before I call the cops.

The ankle biters will be back in school soon and in bed by 9.

Will they be throwing beer bottles in your yard? If so, call the fuzz.

Well he just said it's 3-4 times a year. Your other points don't make any sense as evidence why it's ok to be a butt.

There's no reason to expect neighbors to put up with what he's describing past nightfall whether they warn you about it or not.

Past nightfall? Seriously?

Your parties must be a blast.

Zackly.

Few more years of equity on the house and that's where we might go. The above is my biggest peeve but the annoying little things any neighbors do is reason enough to have fewer, farther away.

They can stay up drinking around their fire all night for all I care. It's the shrieking children when I'm trying to have a quiet evening/get my kids to bed that makes me lose it.

IMO 10 is a reasonable hour to put your 5 year olds away.

People say I'm no good, and crazy as a loon
'Cause I get stoned in the mornin', I get drunk in the afternoon
Kinda like my old blue tick hound, I like to lay around in the shade
And I ain't got no money, but I damn sure got it made

I live a few blocks from a university and each year the college rentals spread into the neighborhood. We live close to the borough cutoff and on the other side there is no noise ordinance, I'd take shrieking kids every time over drunk college kids.

My wife and I live in a small set of townhouses directly between two giant apartment complexes for college kids. They're all moving back in this weekend. We might turn on fans and other things tonight to have white noise to try and drown out any party noises.
