Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
how are you handling the 12-team league thing? can you make a league with just 12 teams?

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
I was going to do a tournament mode, but there is no option for 12 teams. Only 8 or 16.

If you have to leave some teams out in order to have it. You can leave mine out.

I'd also be okay with being left out; seeing the results of 8'd be fun enough.

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
Well, maybe it can be run if/when four teams do not make the postseason. I'm going to collect my thoughts on this tonight or tomorrow and post about it. As the draft begins to wind down (though, it has stalled a tiny bit, but we should easily finish this week I feel)...

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
Gibson has seen very limited action in the NHL, but all signs point to this kid likely being a stud. Seems like he has all the natural abilities to be a big time goalie. Yes starts are limited, but hey, at least we're not drafting a 17 year old

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
Not following the run of goalie picks, though I probably should've. Wanted to pick up Schenn, a perennial underachiever. He has flashes, and then he's gone. I think he was weighed down by being with Lecavalier & Briere this year, and with better linemates would play much better. As is, he already was a 20/20 guy who can play both left wing and center (he's been used as both with the Flyers). If he's able to play consistently, great. If not... well, that's why he's forward #13.
Really like the Gibson pickup, btw; he was going to be my choice for backing up Lehtonen.

remember when Schenn was supposedly going to be better than Crosby? No? I'm the only one that had a crazy flyers fan as a coworker?

Played 22 minutes a night on a cup champion. King's top penalty killer. Lead their D in +/- in their run. Got him with my 22nd pick...

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
My knock towards Mitchell - Can he actually last a season? How often will he be injured? Very good defensive player, but don't know how much longer he'll go. But as a 7th d-man, great pickup.

I've been thinking about Mitchell for a few rounds but didn't pick him up for what Avyran said.

I am staying away from unproven players, no matter how much of a slam dunk they are (Gibson, Drouin).mikey287 wrote:Thought about it...thought about it...didn't want to end up in meow's...dog...house?

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
I don't see a big issue with having a young up and comer as a back-up. Plus it gets rid of that whole veteran vs. veteran over who should be the starter non-sense.

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
How are we doing the judging again? I think that I can start to make my ratings of rosters now; doubt a final-round pick will largely sway my opinion.
Also, do we want to ask a few people not involved to provide analysis as well? I was thinking folks like Jesse & FLPensfan, as well as others who've been following along & posting here (Crankshaft, Gaucho, etc). Or would we just make that a part of the poll we're doing later on?

I'm thinking the Top 4 teams after the discussion will draw the CHL teams when I run the sim.
