Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
When I hear Torpedo used to describe a beer, right away Sierra Nevada's Torpedo IPA comes to mind. The way that they hopped using their 'Torpedo' invention, it is easy to see how anyone may think the flavor would have more hop presence.
There were 4 of us that used to frequently brew at home. As a group, we probably did 10 - 12 batches. The only one that is still committed to brewing has a history of making quality beer that over the years have won him some local competitions. If he ever gets motivated to try to do it for a living he would have some folks ready to chip in on the venture.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
After being largely disappointed with everything from the beer camp 12 pack (mostly because I purposely picked to drink ones that I didn't think I'd like first), I went with the one I was most interested in... the rye bock in collaboration with Oskar Blues. This one is very, very good. Hoppier than any bock I've ever had and has that bit of a bite from the rye. I would regularly buy this beer, for sure.

Only thing I've had from Long Trail is a Berliner Weisse... I wasn't a fan, but not really my style tbh.

I've never had anything from long trail and reading up on them, it looks like the majority of their stuff is average. The culmination imperial chocolate porter and limbo ipa do get great reviews though.

I put Long Trail in that same category as Saranac. The category label is probably "not very good."

Ugh, Saranac. My SIL and her boyfriend buy cases of that stuff all the time, I don't understand it at all. Just extraordinarily blahKraftster wrote:I put Long Trail in that same category as Saranac. The category label is probably "not very good."

Long Trail, like Magic Hat, but to a lesser extent, over expanded. They used to have a good ale and a decent beer called double brown bag. Haven't been crazy about stuff I've had from them recently though.

The IPA is probably one of their best beers, it's not bad at all

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Busted out one of my last Hop Ottins for IPA day. Sadly, it has not aged well and had lost all of the nice grapefruity notes and was just bitter meh. Had to dump it and pour a Hopdevil instead.

Stone Ruin Ten IPA... This is damn good. I thought that it might be overkill when I saw the IbUs were over Ruination (albeit only by 5), but it's not.

Looks like Millvale can't be arsed to post a brewery or beer list for the fest this year. Ah well, still looking forward to some great local brews tomorrow.
