NHL 14 also had Loui Eriksson win the Richard, and Mike freaking Ribeiro sweep the Art Ross and Hart in one of my seasons. So there's that

It may be possible to do a 12 team playoff. I think it would do a round robin and eliminate teams from there. Would need to check later, though.Beveridge wrote:MalkinIsMyHomeboy wrote:after the 2014-15 NHL season or after the Dispersal draft simulated season?Letang Is The Truth wrote:youll know danny dekeyser after this year
Someone should figure out a way on nhl 15 to create a 12 team league, plug in the players and simulate the season for the hell of it.

You can do that.

I think you should probably have everyone in the league vote for any team but their own(or maybe 1-3 except their own) and then if you want to let other people vote, weigh their votes less than the people involved in the league. Maybe my suggestion for how to do it should be weighed less than that of someone involved in the league.

Even if you were in the league, it would be weighed less. Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
I'd say for reg season we do 2 conference polls, open to the public. Everyone picks top 4 teams from each conference.
Then also do a private poll with only gms (otherwise advantage goes to teams with agms). THis could then either be used as a tiebreaker, or added to the scores of public polls, so that GM's votes are essentially, counted twice. This poll could be done via pm.

Find a sim.
Add the rosters.
Sim a season.
Sim the playoffs.
Winner.
I'm sure there is a sim out there to do that.

We should get 4-5 of us who weren't involved to get together and rank the teams.

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
Again, sorry for delay. Had that pick lined up, but needed to go away for a bit and didn't know when my pick'd be up. Tried to change my email to one that I use (my email was my old college email that's defunct); got locked out of LGP.
Good news is I'll receive emails now if someone PMs me to nag me about picking.

I don't think you are taking an inappropriate amount of time to pick.
Also, Lehtonen is an excellent pick and an absolute workhorse. Great athlete, physically gifted and knows how to play the position. There is an epidemic among high level goalies that they don't think the position well - they use size and technique to compensate for their poor hockey sense. I would rank him higher than some of the goalies taken already.

Looks like Bjugstad might be moving to wing. Can't resist these irritant types.

I've been watching Lehtonen, couldn't believe he hadn't gone yet. In a quick skim through the draft, I count 3 goalies drafted ahead of him that i'd want only after he was off the board.

Kari is a great selection. Way better than his numbers would seem to indicate...

I thought some rounds ago that it was about time somebody picked him.

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
Think this shows how important I think coaching is. Had a long think about who to take first but ultimately went with Babcock. Relatively short coaching career compared to the others I considered but being able to do what he's done in a short amount of time is spectacular and I think he's perfect for the type of players I have on my team.
And he was one Lidstrom goal away from having two Stanley Cups =p
(Err, OK, it would've went into overtime, but still)

Can't believe some of the names that went ahead of Hertl! Good pick.

Hertl has a lot to prove. If you take away one week or even one game of his season this past year, very few people know who he is.

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
I forgot about Hertl actually...it's a shame I wasn't more organized in my line of thinking for this, I'd probably have a better team...
I basically just think of a few players that I think are awesome and see if they were picked already...if they weren't, I decide which one is the least likely to be around for my next pick and I pick that one...that's been my general gameplan so far...it yielded a sweet defense, but my center depth is surprisingly weak, considering how much I value centers...not that the players are bad, it's just, I thought I'd be loaded down the middle, like the Leafs are...

Haha I like how I take the first coach and there's more discussion about Hertl.
I guess good is too boring :slug:

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
I think it's early to take a coach and I value coaching considerably (obviously). Additionally, you're next pick has been assigned as Dan Cleary...it's a package deal, read the rules...
Babcock isn't so far ahead of the pack, in my opinion, that it was worth going for him this early...super coach, no doubt, but ya know...you're gonna have to sell the fact that Babcock brings X, Y, Z to your club to whoever it is that is voting on it...I find it's much easier to sell a player's attributes than a coach's...as the people that are reading may have never coached or had a strong coach themselves...
That said, you probably got the best of the lot...I haven't looked at many rosters in depth yet, but I'm sure he's a match for what you're doing...I know in Detroit he's had success despite an overwhelming amount of LHS d-men on the blueline, so if you have a problem of single-handedness, I'd probably go for him too, because he can still breakout of the zone somehow...

I figured most GMs would probably wait til the last round to pick their coach.
