Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
Lindholm was a defender I've been considering for at least four rounds now. My own knock on him was that, to be honest, I didn't know his play as well. However, doing some more research last night helped me to decide upon him: good size (6'3"), strong two-way play, good awareness. Also pretty good with the puck. Played top-pairing with Beauchemin, so he's played already against very strong competition & knows what to do. Was wishing he was right-handed, and will have to determine the best person to pair him with, but he's a quality player.

Agree. Though, I'd say that Fowler-Lovejoy was the top pairing for the Ducks last year, I'm not basing that on anything but memory...

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
I'm not going off memory, well I guess I am, but I didn't watch the Ducks a ton, but I thought of them as the top pairing. I don't know if I just looked at minutes at some point or looked at line listings, but I always thought of that as the top pair in Anaheim.

I've contemplated him, but didn't have a place for him. I think he's a great value at this point. I firmly believe he is a strong PP player at this level as well.

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
He doesn't really fit the standard "fourth liner" definition but the 12 team league will allow for a lot more skill on the fourth line.

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
Hjalmarsson is another of those unsexy but quality pickups. Won't do anything flashy at all, but can be depended upon to do almost everything more than adequately.
I really hoped Bonino would keep slipping. I have more pressing needs, so I didn't want to work on my 4th line just yet, but he was my #1 pick for that line. Great depth.

Yeah, I think it's evident by now that I'm putting an emphasis on swift skating defensemen and Hjalmarsson fits right into that. He's not really an offensive threat but he doesn't make mistakes and he won't be asked to do anything other than be solid for 13-15 minutes a night. I'm more than happy to pick him up as a number 5 and I think I've got a good fitting partner that I can scoop up later.

I was also waiting to see how far Maatta would fall. Was trying to decide between him & Lindholm, but Maatta's injury kept me unsure of how that would come into account (I think we're just assuming everyone is healthy, but I wasn't 100% sure). Lindholm's also a little bigger, while Maatta's probably a little better defensively.
Galchenyuk's a good pickup, too. A good offensive boost for a team.

I drafted him on the idea that all players were going in healthy.Avyran wrote:I was also waiting to see how far Maatta would fall. Mikey, can we get a ruling?

I would certainly assume everyone is fully healthy... my next pick: chris pronger.
kidding, but yea. I assume the players are healthy.

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
As discussed previously, players are "reasonably" healthy coming into the season. Meaning, leave Pronger and Savard out...but guys that are dinged up like Olli Maatta are fully healthy for these intents and purposes...

What are you doing with these rosters when you're done that you need a ruling on injured players?

You have to promote your team as being the best of the bunch.

I've wanted Bjugstad on my team since day 1. Time to finally pick him. Perfect center for my 4th line.

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
All in due time... but a mammoth center who takes up a lot of ice, works hard, knows where to be, and scores big goals will be a unique asset for my 4th line. He's not going to go out there checking other teams top lines. But he will be a boatload to handle, which will provide exactly the kind of energy and momentum I want from my bottom line.

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
I've had that pick ready all morning; if pcm would've made the pick 5 minutes earlier, I would've made mine quickly. Haven't been at a computer since around 9:30 or so. Sorry for the delay again.

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
I've been doing a lot of film study on Ottawa the past couple weeks. The Clarke MacArthur-Kyle Turris duo was just about all that went consistently right for the Senators last season. They had great chemistry with each other. And kept on pressing even in games that were well in hand. Hard to find two more consistent performers on that team besides those two...
