Went with Steen over some available right wingers. Love the idea of him with Thornton. Solid two way play and can excel more offensively with a wheeling and dealing center.

As we reach the rich, creamy center of this draft, let me please remind people to keep the mentioning of undrafted players to a bare minimum...

Lol I'm sorry. I needed a left wing and some cup/playoff experience. I was pumped to be able to get Laddmikey287 wrote:Two of my favorite players in the league, back to back there...ouch. Nice job, guys.

Really, it's a terrific pick. I'm happy that someone else can recognize the pure, unadulterated, awesomeness of Andrew Ladd. You didn't "need a left wing" ... you need Andrew Ladd.
20% testosterone boost for all of your players.

In the anti-swoon category, awful lot of offense-only wingers out there of high quality. I foresee a run on them pretty soon...

I had to doublecheck to see if he was still available.
It was either him or....well, I won't say who else since they might be my next pick.

I'm glad someone else notices this...I've been getting a lot of crap for having him on my team every year in the fantasy league, but its Andrew Ladd. C'mon. If a fantasy team needs anything, its pretty good production with amazing intangibles.mikey287 wrote:Really, it's a terrific pick. Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
Marleau was the guy I was mentioning standing out to me. If this weren't listed as a redraft league, maybe not, but I think he and Thornton should ahve gone a lot earlier. I've also never bought the playoff choking thing. He's streaky in general, which is why some years he isn't there in the playoffs. But looking at him from a production standpoint, you're looking at basically the same production rate in the playoffs as you see in the regular season. Last I checked, I'm pretty sure the point rate drops slightly with the goal rate going up slightly. He was 3+4 against the Kings this year in the playoffs. Of course if you look at the distribution of those points throughout the series, maybe that feeds into the choking narrative. Thats still a point a game against the Kings though.Avyran wrote:Hoping that my other two choices for this pick fall through to me in the next two rounds. Was a little worried about Marleau's age, but then I saw that he has played all 82 games in 4 of the last 5 seasons. Also scored 30 or more goals those same 4 seasons. Forgot how important he was to San Jose's penalty-killing and power-play as well.
Only knock on him is the fact that many claim he chokes in the playoffs, and I'm gonna work through that.

O'Reilly has firmly and permanently planted himself in the category of I hate him for non-hockey reasons therefore won't touch him. If the next best player available in a fantasy pay league was Matt Murley, I would take Murley.
