Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
There's a name that should be long gone by now, but he doesn't fit exactly with the team I'm trying to build...but someone is going to get very lucky with two players who are pretty obviously top-10 players in the NHL...

I'm biased and didn't want to take either of them! LOL!mikey287 wrote:There's a name that should be long gone by now, but he doesn't fit exactly with the team I'm trying to build...but someone is going to get very lucky with two players who are pretty obviously top-10 players in the NHL...

The one is obvious, but I don't think he's referring Claude with the other...

Datsyuk is one of if not the best play makers in the NHL. Don't care, he's what I want on my team.

Nice value geting Getzlaf at 10, he was probably my play at 4 if Geno, Sid, or Stammkos weren't available.

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
I was 50/50 with Tavares and Getzlaf so no problem there
first (and second) rounds are the easiest. hard to make a bad pick there. it'll be interesting in the third and fourth and people are taking extreme reaches.

Mikey is making me return to my notes with that selection. I'll have my pick over lunch.

Yeah, I figured as much, that's why I chuckled at it in light of the previous comment made...
And even if it wasn't, I'd relish the chance at refuting it haha

Kraftster/LITT are you guys co-GMs for dodint's team? I couldn't see that in the messages that I was a CC'd on...does the team name need to change? There is a $5 renaming fee...

Puck has got to go in the net and nobody has been better at that over the past decade than the great 8.

Yeah, I think that Ovechkin pick is an absolute lay-up...I know he gets dogged a bit for his game...but there's really only one guy up there that puts it in the oven as often as AO does and it's Steven Stamkos...if you build a team that either protects AO (meh) or allows him and his linemates to do their thing (the better route, in my opinion, but there's a million different outcomes), this is about as good of a value as you can get in round one...top-5 player in the NHL from my perspective...

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
First goalie off the board. I think you have to reflect back on your own thoughts on goaltending to see how valuable it really is. I don't think there's much question Hank Lundqivst has been the best goalie in the NHL since the big lockout, I'm not sure it's all that close either...there's a couple guys for me that are creeping in there, but I think he's best goalie for this and he really cemented it with a valiant run to the Final last year. He gives you a chance to win at any time, any level, in any situation...
Giroux was the other top-10 player that slips, technically, out of the first round. Elite playmaker, decent two-way game (though, it's not what it once was, when he first came into the league)...he's a star.

Re: Dispersal Draft Game - Discussion Thread
Giroux was my choice coming back down, but for the 2nd time in two tries, my pick goes off the board one selection before I go.
Tyler Seguin might be a reach but his transition to center last year year couldn't have gone much better. Goals and Assists were up, penalty minutes were down and he wasn't afraid to throw the big frame around. He'll be centering Ovechkin forcing teams to pick their poison because Seguin can deposit that puck when given the chance. The party hard line will have one goal on their mind while on the ice, and that's putting the puck in the net. They can use their bodies to make plays and the Left Wing compliment to come will have plenty of space to cause some lightning to go with the thunder.
