Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I'm heading to beerfest tonight.
For those on untappd, I have a question: Is it cheating to log your samples? I say no because there's an actual sample badge listed, but a few people in my group of co-workers say yes because it's not a full drink.

I use Beer Buddy. I don't log bar samples. Whether I log a 3 oz. pour depends upon whether I drank the beer or tasted the beer.

That's how I approach it also. Which is why I don't bother logging something if I couldn't/didn't really even get an impression.

I log everything that I try. It's more of an encyclopedia of what I've had to drink. If someone doesn't like that, oh well.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Agreed. I never really viewed it as a race to 200, 500, or 1000 unique beers. If it were, I'd still be losing by a few hundred . It was a point that was brought up by somebody else and has even been debated as an option on the untappd site.
What's weird is that I didn't earn my sampler badge at beerfest or at a sampling party. It was at a holiday party last year that involved some marathon drinking from early noon until close to midnight. More than a few times it has saved me from ordering a bad beer, like something I rated in the 2* or lower.
Was supposed to be meeting people from work down there, but left my work phone on my desk, which has everybody's numbers stored. Stage AE isn't that big and they said they were buying VIP, so I should bump into them sooner or later.

Just snagged a case of Weihenstephaner. I was extremely tempted to grab one of the Unibroue variety packs too, but didn't really want to drop $100 on beer in one night.

So far no coworkers. Whatever.
Tried a pumpkin ale from Block House Brewing in Lawrenceville. It's an early runner for my favorite. It might even give southern tier's Pumking a run.
And if you see anybody walking around with a pretzel necklace and a shirt with an elephant, that might be me.

Devestatetion is a Black IPA. Tends to be much more malty/balanced than a traditional IPA, hence why it almost has some characteristics of a porter.KennyTheKangaroo wrote:this gentleman tried the Sierra Nevada devistation IPA over the weekend. So why is it considered an IPA even though it doesnt taste like one at all. please elaborate and educate

Drinking Troegs LaGrave triple golden ale. Kind of a fruity finish to it.
Think I like it...need a few more sips.

Eating lunch during a tourney break in a Wegmans in Allentown.
I'm jealous. There's soooooo much selection here. Like, 5 different Weihenstephaner brews, 6ers of Franziskaner.
Did I die and go to heaven?

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Daughter's birthday today; family cook-out. My father in law brings me a mixed 12 with some good stuff:
Innis & Gunn Scottish Ale
Erdinger
Guinness Extra, Black, Foreign (insertLennoxLewisjokeherenotracistplusthosearethreedifferentbeers)
Kronenbourg
Peroni
Ommegang Dubbel
Lion Stout
Karmeliet Tripel
Spaten lager
Some are out of my palate range, but I'm grilling 100 pounds of food so it's on.

That is a great selection of beers, Eismann. The Karmeliet is the only one I haven't had, but I'd be happy with any of the others.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Stone Levitation Ale is amazing. It is hard to believe this is only a 4.4% ABV beer, just so much flavor packed into it.
