Just saw a headline--- Gino Odjick's last fight: Beloved Canucks enforcer fights terminal heart disease.
Talk about tugging at the heart strings.

Just came across this story. How terrible. I could not imagine knowing your end is coming...and so young.

From the Canucks website. I don't remember much about Odjick. He played when I was young and was primarily on the west coast. Seem to have been loved by fans, teammates, and the community alike. Really sucks to see stuff like this happen to people that are truly still so young.

Good article. Really seems like he's a helluva person.

man, this is terrible. i was actually a canucks fan when he was with the team. (my wife is from pgh and didn't convert me until '95 or '96). he was great in the '93-'94 season, and even though he saw limited time during that playoff run, i considered him to be a huge part of that team. definitely a likable guy who could pound your face in if necessary......

I actually think there was a "Gino" chant in one of the earlier EA NHL games. They loved this guy out there.

Oh, just awful...heartbreaking.

Best wishes for peace to him and his loved ones during this time. He seems intent to enjoy every remaining moment.

I read the article in the Hockey News a few editions back. You hate to hear about things like this. But we all know, that despite our hatred for our foes, hockey people seem to rally around each other when they are fighting a greater obstacle than our team.
I think even a Flyer fan would be able to show some compassion to GO.
