LA Kings Take Lord Stanley's Cup

Post by rgj »

The LA Kings win the Stanley Cup with a 3-2, 2OT win in game 5 over the NY Rangers. Great game and series by both teams. I hope the Pens took timeout from their golf exercises to watch some real playoff hockey. The Kings win their 2nd cup in the past 3 years.

Dynasty.

Four years ago it'd be insane to think that they are where they are right now.

What a playoff year! The Kings are such a good team, so much hustle. Glad to see them win it.

I couldn't be happier for Justin Williams. Playing over your head like that is part of the secret voodoo sauce of being a champion.

Kings are an awesome team no doubt. To me though, a dynasty is a team that wins 3 cups in 5 years. I don't really know why, but that's just what I feel a dynasty is.

They just would not be denied and it was a pleasure to watch. They keep pucks in the zone with a tenacious forcheck, their D pinches almost perfectly every time no matter the game situation, and their forwards get to the net at all costs.

That is how I want my team built. I know its comparing apples to oranges, but if you watch the SCF and tell me Dustin Brown is anything less than a beast, I will call you a liar. Their first line was insane with puck possession. The fact Brown was in FHCDB's doghouse during the Olympics tells me all I need to know... Hopefully our next coach knows how to win in the playoffs.

Congrats to the Kings. They deserve it. I am slightly jealous, but ultimately appreciative of the product they put on the ice.

I want to know what the hang time on Martinez's stick was. It seemed like it took quite awhile before it came down.

I think Martinez would do well in the javelin at the Olympics. Great story of a guy who was/is a 6th/7th d-man having a helluva Stanley Cup run, much like Gord Murphy and Gord Dineen suddenly did for the Pens back in the day. You get contributions like that from your "lesser lights" and you win.

Happy for the Kings. Totally deserved especially after playing 21 games in the first 3 series. Unreal.

Those are two different sticks. In the top pic the blade is black and in the bottom pic the blade has white tape on it, also no white tape on the handle. Is the bottom pic Clifford's?

Yeah, I mentioned it in the other thread, but Cliffords stick and gloves went directly from Clifford to Lundqvist. Should grab that gif.

Giant gif is giant, and answers the question.

Watching the Kings celebration live on NHLN from the Staples Center. LA's mayor gets up there and ends with "They say there are two rules in politics: Don't get caught with a drink in your hand, and don't swear. But this is a big F***** day!" They had to cut in on the feed to apologize for the language. So the Kings are 2 for 2 with the FCC when winning the Cup

The video looks like it is. What I thought was the blade may actually be the stick, the angle that it is on in that picture is hard to tell.

my beer league team won our league championship in OT about a month ago and that was a major rush. I can't even fathom what it must be like to win the Stanley Cup like that!
