picked up a case of Goose Island Sofie for my wifes birthday. Got her a nice goose tulip glass as well. Shaf, if you come across it, I suggest you try that Saison out. Not sure why, but she generally is in the same boat as you when it comes to most Saisons, but for whatever reason, the Sofie is her absolute favorite of any style. I'm lucky/unlucky that I haven't really come across a style that I haven't found enjoyment in!

I have not had the Yards--it never seems to be in the mix 6 when I am selecting, and I don't know that I'd get a 6-pack of it. I think the Swing is okay for a saison readily available in 12 oz bottles. Too much lemon and not enough funk. As far as 12 oz.-available saisons go, I was very pleasantly surprised by Great Divide Colette. I'd love to see if I can get Save on Beer to get a case of that for me next year.

Distributor in town has yards for $22 so I've been tempted, but feel like it's to good to be true (quality wise and that's a lot of beer to have that I don't want to drink). I also noticed the other week they started carrying cases of Colette. I too enjoyed this beer and that has been tempting.

I'll definitely give it a shot. I want to be able to enjoy saisons on a hot summer day, and the overwhelming carbonation and whatnot just kills it for me.

If you are ever in the area of Hal's Kraft, they have single bottles of the Yards. Worth it, imo.

As much as I've tried to like them, I think I've come to the conclusion that I just don't like saisons. Way too carbonated for me, and just way too much fruitiness and spiciness. I might like the rare one, but by and large not a fan. One of the few genres I can't drink :(

Flying Dog Old Bay Ale was OK. You can taste the old bay in the aftertaste but it's not overpowering. It's just not a great beer.

Pretty good, Weihenstephaner's is better. Ayinger's is pretty damn good too. The latter can be found around here.

And no, I am not paid by Weihenstephaner. I just legitimately feel they are the pinnacle of hefeweizen.
