In Martin's defense I'm sure it takes a long time to come up with daily menus for all of Westeros and now half of Essos and beyond the wall too.

Aside from the innocent bystander, the fight was extremely accurate, and actually more eventful on the show.

It's funny how I think I remember parts from the book that didn't actually happen. The Viper actually wore a helm and more light armor than on the show, which wouldn't have been as effective in showing the risk he was taking.

I ended up liking the show fight much better after rereading it. (Not that I disliked it)
For some reason I pictured them fighting in grass like in a jousting area with a lot more open space, not where the ended up having the fight. I think the utlimate kill shot was much more brutal in the show. Didn't the Mountain grab the Viper while he was over him, confess, then essentially cave his his skull in with one punch?
I pictured them fighting indoors for some reason, but yeah, he punched him. People were complaining about that, but whatever...

The book readers need to realize that there have to be adaptations on the show and it can't go line for line in the book.
People were upset that Tyrion wasn't laughing at the end of the fight. That makes no sense in the context of film. Why would that be an acceptable reaction in such a gut wrenching moment?

In the books Tyrion was thinking about a joke basically realizing how foolish it was to put his life in the hands of a snake, who has no hands. Can't get that inner monologue on the show.

On film it would ruin the moment.

i pictured indoors, too. in a fairly enclosed space- considering the bystander who got whacked

The gouging scene was too over the top to actually bother me. That said, the Red Viper was among the best characters, so that kind of sucks.

So I saw this pic with Lena Headey & Pedro Pascal quite awhile ago... didn't realize it was a spoiler of sorts at the time:

Lena Headey posted another future spoiler-type picture, but I haven't seen it. I know what it refers to though...

So just assuming
Spoiler:
The mountain is dead? cause after he killed the Viper, he rolled over and laid back down like he was, so didn't both lose and it be considered a draw?

Wonder if they will mention that in the next episode or the season finale?

During the inside the episode segments, one of the Ds said he was poisoned. Thought it was odd he said that since it hasn't been directly mentioned for that fight.

Spoiler:
:?: They didn't do the pre-fight scene from the book where Tyrion and Oberyn are talking, and the Viper shows him the sheen of poison coating his spear points? That would seem to be an odd omission from the show.

They did make sure to show the squire wiping down his spear tip. Probably more of a nod to book readers since they don't do "scenes from last week" where they would remind viewers of that action.
