I don't think Oberon is anymore than $29 when I got it and that's definitely cheaper than the Sierra.

edit: just checked. Oberon was $27, Sierra was $34

If we are talking cases, at least in eastern PA, Sam runs between $32 and $34, and Sierra tends to be about the same.

Come to think of it MWB, what about the Sierra Kellerweis? That could be a solid bet.

Sam's summer isnt offensive to the pallet. Its not a great beer but not a bad one either.

As this gentleman has said before, its like most sam adams beer, stringer bell would describe it as a forty degree day

Could always do Leiney Shandy. That was a big hit at my brother's grad party.

That's a solid beer. It's in my top 10 hefeweizens. I'd be tempted to put it as high as #6, but it's a fluid list after the top 2 or 3

Not a fan of hefes. I got a mixed 12 pack of SN (session ipa, black IPA, torpedo, and white ipa) for $13 on sale, so you're right, I can probably get SN for the same price as Sams. It's often on sale. Oberon is always more expensive here.

Thunderhop is a good IPA, pretty heavy though.

I think the celestial gold and munkel dunkel and pious pale ale or whatever they call the standards are all bunk. Look for the seasonals, they might have a good barley wine or other good rotational selections.

I remember it (their beer) being kind of generic, but ok food and kind of a cool atmosphere.
In fact, the building was probably the best part.

That sums up church brew works pretty well.

Its the same thing as hofbrauhaus (at least drinking outside there, when it isnt packed).

OK beer, ok food, but the place is pretty cool.

The bar food is good, it beats something like sharp edge pretty handily. But they also sort of fashion themselves as a sort of fancy place that can sell you a $25 plate. I'm not sure how that stuff stacks up as i've never had a dinner plate from them, but i'd be willing to be it's not worth it.

The setup is great though, very spacious.

CBW bison meatloaf was pretty good last time I was there. The Quadzilla is a decent beer.

CBW is about the pizza. The beer is generally just ok, and has largely gone down in quality over the years, imo.

Definitely look to their seasonals, but prepare to be underwhelmed.

After checking their website, I was definitely considering the Quadzilla.

So who’s beer festing it this year?

Penn Brewery is in 2 weeks, 6/7
Pittsburgh summer Beerfest is 7/18-19
Millvale Beerfest is 8/9

Going to try to hit all 3 myself.
