Re: Other NHL games 2013-2014 season
Someone on the Habs needs to have a Mom die apparently. It might help ratings.
I am in no way minimizing the loss for st.Louis, but this is a great sport that doesn't need to be covered by the media like this BS. They have been building a whole story around St. Louis' Mom to the point of pure patronizing that I wish for more "do you know Chara is tall?" It's sickening when the games can stand on their own without this kind of utter pablum.
It's a real exercise in demeaning St.Louis' Mom and St. Louis the player by making her some media story line in order to try and get some extra viewers. Making note of it several times is one thing....trying to make it THE story of the entire playoffs is just rank exploitation and really prurient.

Constant pressure led to that goal. They totally outworked NY on that shift.
Edit: And as I type that a quick answer.

Courageous compared to what? What did he do that was special other than just continue to do what he's paid to do?shafnutz05 wrote:ESPN headline:

MT has the swagger going, which is something I like in a coach.

It does my heart good to know that Chara, Marchand and Lucic aren't playing tonight.

No way the habs win 4 in 6 games without Price against the rags goalie.
This game isn't going any better.

Ugh...this sucks. Was really hoping for a good series just from a TV perspective, but Montreal is done I think.

The Pens didn't win the cup but anytime we go farther than the Flyers I think is a successful season.Humperdink wrote:It does my heart good to know that Chara, Marchand and Lucic aren't playing tonight.

Exactly right. As soon as the Flyers were eliminated, I made contact with all my Philly friends. Empathy of course.MalkinIsMyHomeboy wrote:The Pens didn't win the cup but anytime we go farther than the Flyers I think is a successful season.Humperdink wrote:It does my heart good to know that Chara, Marchand and Lucic aren't playing tonight.

These playoffs started out really intense and exciting but have gone bad quickly and are ending on a whimper, at least in the East.

I need a little more than that, and they still own us at CEC.MalkinIsMyHomeboy wrote:The Pens didn't win the cup but anytime we go farther than the Flyers I think is a successful season.Humperdink wrote:It does my heart good to know that Chara, Marchand and Lucic aren't playing tonight.

If only the pens could have scored on the 5 on 3 game 5. If only James Neal showed up as the scoring winger in any ranger game. Oh well. Going forward with an injured letang and orpik, spent Maata; realistically the pens were done.
Rick Nash can save himself for the finals.

That's tough...the Habs played that game in fast forward, they were just better and faster than every Ranger not named Lundqvist...and no matter who you want to chalk that goal up on, Tokarski or the defense or a good play...to come out of a period where you know you can't really play better or harder or faster and not only not be winning - but actually losing...that's tough to swallow. That introduces some doubt into the equation for sure.
How about this for a jinx...are we watching the evolution of a legacy right now with Henrik Lundqvist? As a history nerd, this guy was hurtling towards Roberto Luongo territory...now he's outwardly stealing games in the playoffs, and this could really begin his ascension up the ranks...already a top-40 goalie in history for sure, but there's room for more...

Agreed. Habs played fantastic that period and Lundqvist simply was better. Going to be a very tough road without Price.mikey287 wrote:That's tough...the Habs played that game in fast forward, they were just better and faster than every Ranger not named Lundqvist...and no matter who you want to chalk that goal up on, Tokarski or the defense or a good play...to come out of a period where you know you can't really play better or harder or faster and not only not be winning - but actually losing...that's tough to swallow. I've had Lunqvist pegged as the most overrated goalie in recent history. He is quickly erasing that label for me.

Lundqvist is in Montreal's head. Vanek passes up that chance to dish to a guy that is double teamed? Woof

To me, the composure of the Rangers throughout the playoffs really stands out. The entire team has a balanced, Brad Richards vibe. They're playing like pros.
