Habs are flat. Kreider is flying. The crowd silenced.

Definitely understatement of the day. All of a sudden playoff games are becoming very boring\one sided. Nothing else to watch, and I can't even go cut the grass.pens2005 wrote:Habs with a bit of a letdown game today.

Did Price get pulled or was it because of that possible injury?

Can't deny that it seems to have sparked a Rangers team that was down 3-1 and playing some lackluster hockey.llipgh2 wrote:Seriously.profpolisci wrote:Bah, more **** about Marty's mother.
I don't want to sound callous but people's mothers die suddenly every day. It's life, and everyone deals with it. This doesn't make St. Louis special. It just makes him like everyone else.

Just flipped it on and saw 7-1. Maybe this Ranger team isn't as punchless as I thought.

I agree with an earlier post. As the playoffs have unfolded, this was a room service set up for the Pens. Boston out. Habs getting smoked by a team the Pens were up 3-1. I know, game 1 does not a series make. But geez.
And Abylsmal still has a job.

Just checked the score. Didn't expect that at all. Anything to make Montreal flood with Canadian tears.

Maybe it's time to start giving the Rangers some credit.
Sometimes the team you expect to win looks terrible because they got beaten. Not because they didn't do one or two things or came out flat or didn't want it or whatever stupid simplifications we choose.

I expected both the Pens and the B's to win each of their respective series. The B's easily, the Pens a bit more difficult. What do I know? Apparently not much.
It's good for hockey to have new teams near the finish line.

I'm a lot like you humperdink, always wrong with hockey predictions. I still believe the West team will easily punish whoever makes it from the East. So with that prediction, I am sure the East will now sweep.

Those who regularly predict the outcome of sporting events are too busy buying islands and/or residing at the bottom of lakes/building foundations to post here.

Re: Other NHL games 2013-2014 season
I'm going to be super irritated if the Rags roll over the Habs. That's not to say that the Pens would have done the same, as you never even knew which team would show up in any given game... but basically everything in the east went exactly as I wanted it to, except the Pens lost. Grr.

Didn't know the East finals started last night and neither did Montreal apparently.
Kins of shows how good our defense can be when they don't play stupid. I can't think of too many goals the Rangers scored where we didn't make a huge, stupid mistake right before.

Re: Other NHL games 2013-2014 season
On that note, let's say that Crawford gets eliminated...we could be looking at the best goaltending matchup in the SCF in a long time...with respect to Quick/Brodeur, Marty was in the twilight of his career, though he was pretty exceptional in that playoffs...but just off the top here, you're thinking:profpolisci wrote:Corey Crawford set to get in mikey's hair yet again?
Crawford/Rask
Quick/Brodeur
Thomas/Luongo
Niemi/Leighton
Fleury/Osgood
Osgood/Fleury
Giguere/Emery
Ward/Markkanen
Khabibulin/Kiprusoff
Brodeur/Giguere
Hasek/Irbe
Roy/Brodeur
Bulin and Kipper was the best we've seen since this potential matchup, and Roy/Brodeur in 2001 was one of the best we've seen of course, arguably 2 of the top 3 or 5 goalies of all-time for all the marbles...
Speaks a lot to goaltender being the least important element to a team in terms of positive impact in the last decade...especially when you look at the goalie matchups from '84 to '04 vs. '06 to '13...
