Yeah... don't let frustrations over Bylsma's shortcomings cloud the past... that team was probably going to miss the playoffs without the change. Just because MT is currently successful with another team does not mean he was going to be here.

Yeah, for better or worse, his time here was probably over. Still would have liked to have seen him deal with the country club stuff. He made winners in Montreal with not a whole lot to work with.

MT is better with those kinds of teams tbh. He was great for helping bring some of our young guys along, both in WBS and PIT... but then couldn't take them that next step. His style of coaching just works better without the big superstars, I think.

MT is better with those kinds of teams tbh. He was great for helping bring some of our young guys along, both in WBS and PIT... but then couldn't take them that next step. His style of coaching just works better without the big superstars, I think.

MT was two wins away from that next step. When they completed that step the following year, there was still a lot of MT in the Penguins game. The playoff problems began after DB completely implemented his own system. As the years went on, the MT defensive culture disappeared entirely.

MT has proven a lot by taking each of his last two teams to the ECF. He knows how to win in the playoffs.
