my brother called the local dist and put his name on the list, they got 5 total cases, our family picked up 3. Needless to say, I've heard next year, she is breaking it up and selling it by the 4 pack (which I'm not sure a distributor can do?)shmenguin wrote:what world is this where there are just cases of KBS lying around?eddysnake wrote:my mom just bought my dad another case for his birthday so we're stockpiled pretty well with that.shmenguin wrote:i'd fund a month of his drinking in exchange for whatever KBS he has left.
is it just that people in philly are more rabid about getting it, so we run out right away, while people in pittsburgh get to have as much as they want because everyone's just buying case after case of iron city (i'm assuming)?

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
i got 2 individual bottles from a distributor in philly. everyone in town who got KBS was doing the same thing. they gave them to me in a opaque black bag that they tied tight at the top. it's probably one of those things where you aren't "supposed" to do it, but no one really cares.eddysnake wrote:my brother called the local dist and put his name on the list, they got 5 total cases, our family picked up 3. Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
do people on here actually buy stuff from Miller, Bud, Coors, etc? I love a tall cool budweiser as much as the other guy, but I can't actually bring myself to spend money on it....

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I just seen Southern Tier has a beer named "PMX" and it's the new name for their prior phin and matt's. Anyone know if this the same thing just different name?

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
after a quick google, it appears that it's just phin and matt's with a new name.

that appears to be correct, but didn't see it officially stated.
Kraftster, have you had southern tiers take on a saison yet... Sonnet

Nope. I saw their other saison--I think it's Grand Arbor or something like that. Made with maple syrup, so I am very uncertain about it landing within the style parameters.
That one sounds a lot better.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Interesting that the pairing suggestion is pasta with garlic aoli. I have been thinking recently that I do not really have any beers that jump to mind as being something that I would pair with a red sauce pasta dish. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Speaking of italian food, there is a new saison at my Giant Eagle that is from some Italian brewery. I'd never heard of it before. I will probably try it before too long.

For some reason, I feel like I would enjoy an Eliot Ness with a plate of spaghetti

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I would say a plate of spaghetti would either go really well with a porter/stout or with a belgian

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I just realized today that eddysnake's name is a combination of Eddy Money and Whitesnake (and I admit I am presuming here, but this has to be correct).
Mind blown.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Zombie Dust certainly lives up to it's name, the citra hops are pretty crazy. The sweet citrus reminded me a lot of Nugget Nectar. I've said it before, but after trying a lot of these top rated beers, I feel we are very lucky with what we have available here. The Zombie Dust reminded me a lot of Nugget Nectar, Jai Alai and Head Hunter and to me the difference in quality was a lot closer together than far apart. I suppose the hype and limited availability add to the mystique of these beers and I'm wondering if people in Indiana are saying the same thing about beers they can't get from here. All great stuff.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I need some new stuff to try, and I figure you guys can help.
I like:
Stouts
Porters
Wits
Weizens
Some ales (preferably not of the pale variety, unless you say Nugget Nectar)
Went to Whole Foods, stood there for 5 minutes, and ended up with Dreamweaver because I didn't know what else to get. I did see Golden Monkey, but I didn't want to buy the 6er in case I didn't like it. Hoping you guys can suggest a few things to look for that are similar to the aforementioned styles.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
The Gemini is awesome. Loaded with hops, but balanced out by the malt nicely. I know on BA it says it's an "American Strong Ale", but it just tasted like a solid American Pale Ale to me, albeit a strong one. Does a DAPA exist?
