It was hibachi cooked tuna. It didn't taste like the god awful smell that permeates the seafood aisle, and it didn't taste like beef or pork, so I guess chicken is all I have left to compare it to.

How much would one of those fancy things of lamb cost (roughly). I'm kind of clueless about it but when I see a picture like that I think it looks delicious.

That type of cut is highly sought after, so I'd be willing to bet it is quite expensive. I'd say depending on size, anywhere from $75 to $200. But I've never bought one like that, so I might just be talking out my ass.

The racks I get at Whole Foods and Gelson's run about 40 or 50 bucks.

Lamb and goat are relatively uncommon meats in this country, but there is a wide swath from eastern Europe through central Asia and the Middle East where they are some of the most common sources of protein. There are a ton of lamb and goat recipes in Steven Raichlen's book Planet Barbecue!, for example. I think lamb is delicious, and I wish it were more common here (and thus less expensive). I would like to take a trip down to Owensboro, Kentucky, which is renowned for its barbecued mutton.

Last Penn State Meat Lab sale of the year today. I got:

6 pounds of bacon (5 for family, one for us)
A Kielbasa
Beef Short Ribs (I think there are 4 bones in it)
2 skirt steaks
Bone-in pork loin roast

It sucks there isn't a good butcher around here other than this meat lab through the university.

Went to some hole in the wall when I was in Austin, the people we were with in Austin implied that Franklins was a major hassle and not worth it.
