I'm a tiny bit surprised, but if I was in the rumor-mongering business, I'd suggest that the Leafs have chosen Randy Carlyle over the likes of Nazem Kadri, Joffrey Lupul and James Reimer...which has some merit...but I can see both sides of it...
New assistants coming in. And, as well know, just because you give a guy an extension, that doesn't mean anything with coaching...

All of those people are individually, let alone collectively, more valuable than Randy Carlyle. He's a net negative.
