I'm drinking a Troegenator, and just love this style of beer. Can anyone recommend another great doppelbock?

Ayinger Celebrator is the cream of the crop for doppelbocks. Pretty pricey ($18/4 pack or so?), though.

Long trip north, headed to hop town. Before that, enjoyed Sierra Nevada's Rye IPA. Just enough goodness for a good night. Tight malt, although enough to cover the hops. Think Bullit Rye Whiskey with a hop nose.

Great Lakes used to put out "the dopplerock" in spring which I always liked. I have not seen it around yet, not sure if the Chillwave replaced that spring spot?shafnutz05 wrote:I'm drinking a Troegenator, and just love this style of beer. Can anyone recommend another great doppelbock?
At the distributor last week I also saw bells consecrator which is a doppelbock and I'm sure awesome with it being bells

Going back through my list, I also see that victory has a st victorious doppelbock which I enjoyed
Nevermind, that was St boisterous that I liked and it was a hellerbock or something like that

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Had a Pliny the Elder last night. It certainly lives up to the hype, but it also reminded me how many great DIPAs we have access to around here. It was in a class of itself, but reminded me a lot of Stones Enjoy By and Victory Dirtwolf. I liked the DW better than the Enjoy by. Hardest thing about drinking the Pliny was not having another to go after...

Spaten Optimator is one of my favorites. Not as hop/fruity as Troegs.shafnutz05 wrote:I'm drinking a Troegenator, and just love this style of beer. Can anyone recommend another great doppelbock?
Ayinger Celebrator is also awesome, as Kraftster mentioned.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
It was good. By had it on draft I mean my wife ordered it and I drank a quarter of her pint. I enjoy Summer Love, like a better version of Summer Ale. It's not my favorite style by any stretch, but so good out of an icy cooler on a warm summer day.eddysnake wrote:how was it?shafnutz05 wrote:Yup. Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Birthday dinner at Mad Mex could be dangerous. I envision a Sculpin IPA to start (7%), Dark Horse Double Crooked Tree IPA (12%) and He'Brew Funky Jewbelation (9.8%) with mean, and a Great Divide Espresso Oak Aged Yeti (9.5%) for dessert.

Yeah, I have a headache just thinking about that. Especially from mad mex, you're probably getting atleast 16 oz of all those.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Founders porter is delicious. Also, regarding ipas, bang for buck, it doesn't get much better than Bells 2 hearted ale.
