I didn't hate him really, there was just something that seemed off to me. He was much better suited to the role though.

He looked too much like ron perlman in beauty and the beast. Clean that up and he wouldve been fine.

I don't even think anyone would have a problem if you just got any guy and gave him a colorful beard

Agree. Gold clothes and a blue, tri-point beard.

Show was renewed for season 5 AND 6. It was a foregone conclusion that it would be renewed, but this is the first time they've renewed for multiple seasons.

Also, seems the premiere was the highest rated show since the finale of The Sopranos. Not too shabby.

I think seeing a character with that dyed beard would just be so bad. Bad to the point of taking away from the character. No one would buy that on screen.

I knew this would happen, but I went anyway. Visited the Westeros forum, and in about 5 minutes, I found someone complaining that Sansa's necklace wasn't purple.

Sometimes I want to go in there, and tell a few people to "shut their **** mouth," as the Hound would say.

Yeah... that place is a hard read. It would be better if it had a foe feature... my list there might rival Idoit's here.

Yeah, that certainly wouldn't fit in with there being dragons, giants, and white walkers.

So he's very familiar with bad decisions by HBO. Seems appropriate.

I'm not saying that I wanted to see a peacock in the role, but I cannot fathom this guy delivering lines like "I smell of you" in a believable fashion.

There were a lot of these changes made to characters. Charles Dance looks nothing like Tywin Lannister in the books, and there are many minor characters with odd features that don't fit the production designer's vision of Westeros. At some point (maybe in Meeren?), the custom for women to wear a gown with one breast exposed. They didn't go there either...

Not sure I saw this mentioned...
Spoiler:
In the tavern fight at the end of this recent episode, didn't the Hound sustain his mortal wound (in the books)?

Yup. I wonder though if they will keep him around a little longer

Funny thing is I read the last 4 books after Season 1 and that established how the characters looked to me.

The most striking difference is, of course, Tyrion. Even Breinne is probably too pretty.

Don't get the obsession with the Darioo's beard. It's like the "Gandalf's hat is blue not grey!" geek fanboy when FoTR first premiered.

The show's surprisingly loyal to the books, and it's awesome.
More pumped about the show than the books these days, as I'm sure they'll cut much of what derailed the books in FoC. And this from a guy who's read the the books four times.

Not too surprising that they would want to keep him around a bit longer in the show... Arya and the Hound make for great tv. He'll probably be wounded later this season with Arya finally departing for Bravos in the finale.
