Is Tortorella the next Penguins head coach?
I know this is a VERY premature thing to bring up, but it seem as if it could be a perfect storm of events.
Hearing more and more that Vancouver is going to go through a major overhaul from GM down to the players. From what they media is speculating, it's unlikely that Tortorella will be back as the head coach.
IF the Penguins have a major playoff letdown and Bylsma gets the axe, do you guys think Tortorella would be first on Shero's list?
To be clear, I'm not asking who WE would want, but who Shero would consider.

Torts is hard on his superstar players. I doubt Shero is looking to go in that direction.

I would buy an entire section of season tickets and live in the basement of Cafe Fifth to watch that.

I can see your train of thought on this, but what if Shero sees thinks that's exactly what's missing from this team?meow wrote:Torts is hard on his superstar players. I doubt Shero is looking to go in that direction.

I'd pay money to see Torts and Madden go at it in a post-loss presser.
However, I do not think that Shero would even consider hiring him.

Lol.
Torts killed the Canucks. I want no part of him. I honestly think we'd see a similar situation here, if Torts were brought in.

I'd rather have him than Bylsma, but I don't think he's the coach for the Pens.

I wouldn't say he killed them. They got old in the wrong places pretty quick. He didn't help them, but it wasn't like he ran them into the ground Michel Therrien style.MRandall25 wrote:Lol.

I'd throw a party if Torts replaced Bylsma but with that said you think injuries are bad now? They would be 10x worse since Torts got every player on the team right down to the guy who cooks team meals blocking shots

Is Hugo Stiglitz trying to one-up the Errey coach thread? C'mon LGP, get your act together.

Isn't he under contract for 4 more years at 2 Million per? That's a chunk of change for the Canucks to let go of if they fire him.

He'd be the last guy I'd want as our coach.

I don't think Torts wants to coach in his words "our 2 whiney superstars".

Actually, there are rumblings Nashville wants to "change direction", and that would start with firing Barry Trotz.
I'd like to see what he could do with a team like the Pens.

Re: Is Tortorella the next Penguins head coach?
It depends on what Torts we get. I feel that the organization lacks a strong leader to be honest, which might not be my place to say, but there's definitely grounds for it in my opinion. If Tortorella wants to bring his six-goalie system here, well, then it's not a good fit. We get hurt enough here. However, if he wanted to bring some of that "Safe is death" stuff back from the 2004 Lightning, that could be interesting...he's a good coach, in my opinion. I think he might have become a little bit of cariacture of himself in recent years and I think I said that he would not be a good fit for the Canucks given their makeup, but that doesn't mean he doesn't belong in this league, certainly. I could see him being a really great fit for Nashville, for instance.
But, I'm not sure he's the right fit for us if he wants to go with the six-goalie system...that's not a match for us, it doesn't make sense...

Mike Keenan for a season would be fun. I wonder if he has calmed down any in old age/Russia.

I'd say no way in H E double hockey sticks. Torts has now destroyed 2 once solid teams.

Re: Is Tortorella the next Penguins head coach?
I think so as well. The constant sparring with the New York media seems to have made him more stubborn in his approach. He'd probably clash less with the Nashville media who would have less demands of success than NYC or Vancouver, allowing him to coach in a more normal manner. Carolina could be a fit as well?I think he might have become a little bit of cariacture of himself in recent years
