Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Opened my epic big bad Baptist release #25 imperial stout last night. A little too much coffee up front, but as it warmed up, that went away. Besides that, it's one of the best imperial stouts I've had. A true masterpiece.

I've never knowingly had a quality English bitter.
Is that something that IPA drinkers enjoy? Are they at all similar?

I didn't pick up the chilies, either.BigMcK wrote:If you hadn't mentioned there was chile added, I would have never known. Didn't get any hint even at the nose. Tulip glass, on draught.the wicked child wrote:I'm not afraid of it... getting my hands on it is going to be the challenge. I was just curious if the chile flavor was prevalent at all.
The beer is ever so slightly spicy. But nothing like I'd expect from a beer brewed with ancho chilies. I liked it, but not my favorite Ommegang. I would drink it again.

Finally got to go to Monk's today after my race. Fun time, enjoyed A Russian River Blind Pig IPA, which was outstanding.

Yeah, it was great. The small pot of mussels is a great friggin deal.
On my other note, this DFG Burton Baton is amazing.

Red Hook makes a ESB that is a nice bitter. Our local English pub has Fuller's on draught as their main beer, and tho' it is a good beer, the style doesn't appeal to me. Not enough malt structure for all the hops.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Bitters are such a strange style. It's like IPA light. The only thing, IMO, that makes an IPA great is the awesome balance between hops and malt. You take away the malt it gets out of whack pretty quickly.

My wife will be in Chicago this weekend. I'd love to find a premier bottle shop where she can land some stuff that I can't get around here. Anyone familiar with any such options?

Left Hand Milk Stout is pretty ordinary. Nothing that's really wowing me, but that may be because the 6er of Summer Shandy I drank Saturday night burned the tastebuds off the tip of my tongue.

A California brewery. Can really only find at Ho1kb around here except for occasionally on tap at Caliente. They do a bunch of sours, among other styles.

I had some Tenya Creek Hop Ride last night and it was very tasty. I nice big IPA that was well balanced / Citrusy and had a slight smoky undertone to it. The beer got better as my glass warmed up a bit.

We were out with my sister-in-law and her boyfriend (this was at Monk's <shudder>), and he actually asked for a "Black Butt Porter".MRandall25 wrote:Black Butt(e) is pretty awesome.eddysnake wrote:Randall, how was the Black Butte? Supposed to be a real nice porter.

Great Lakes Chillwave Double IPA is awesome. Definitely recommend for the hop heads here.
