Went to my Market District yesterday, hoping to buy Ommegang's "Fire and Blood" (the GoT themed beer).

Alas, none to be had. I asked the clerk if it sold out, he replied they never got it in. Their shipment was delayed. He wasn't sure when they'd have it in stock.

Kind of bummed, wanted to try it.

I know I saw the Fire and Blood yesterday at the Shaler Giant Eagle. I might pick one up this weekend.

I bought 16 bottles of Aventinus for my dad who is going on a golf trip next week. That's a lot of Aventinus.

Haven't gotten to the Black Butte yet. I'm saving it to compare to the Old Leghumper

Got a Fire & Blood Ale at a pizza bar off campus. It's actually pretty good. I was expecting bitter/choppy, but it's fairly decent and I'm jot much of an ale guy.

Picked up bombers of Hennepin and sofie, never had the Hennepin, but really like their philosophers. Not a great saison selection to choose from

So I went down to the local hole-in-the-wall pizza place, which has a pretty remarkable selection of 6-packs considering how small the place is. They had a DFH beer called Burton Baton....have yinz ever had it?

Sounds pretty damn good

The Peg Leg Imperial Stout is incredibly smooth for an IS. No huge alcohol taste, even though it's 8.0%

Fire and Blood. Very nice malt, sort of sweet, with tight carbonation. Another, please.

On tap at Yard House.

I realized I didn't mention Hennepin the other day. Its definitely solid. I think you'll find it to be close to Collette.

Fire and Blood is excellent. I think it is the best GoT beer yet in the series.

I haven't had the GoT beer yet, but I'll recommend a trip to Cooperstown yet again. The brewery is amazing, the samples are awesome, and the food is great (croque madame and pommes frites anyone?)

Is Fire and Blood spicy at all? I know there was supposed to be some chiles in there.

It wasn't too bad. Not really noticeable, and if I did pick it up, it blended so well that it wasn't overpowering.

Zero spice on the nose and pallete. I was surprised that the malt structure was well behind the slight sweet. Again, Champagne bubbles, very tight. Great beer.

get it and drink it. You should ne happy.

fear not this beer.

I'm not afraid of it... getting my hands on it is going to be the challenge. I was just curious if the chile flavor was prevalent at all.

when I toured the brewery they had it on tap, I don't like a lot of DFH stuff, but this might be one of my favorites. I haven't really seen it around since then.

Really good. Along the same lines as North Coast Pranqster if I remember correctly. Well balanced for a Belgian strong.

I just picked up a 4 pack of Ommegang Hop House. I'm genuinely excited to try this. Anyone had it?

Stopped by my Market District today. They finally have Fire and Blood in stock. Got 2 bottles.

Looks like there are 4 different labels, a different dragon on each one.

If you hadn't mentioned there was chile added, I would have never known. Didn't get any hint even at the nose. Tulip glass, on draught.

I haven't had Aventinus in a year. I could really go for a pint or 5 right now.
