i don't know if it's because the guy who plays ted is a really good actor or a really bad one, but all those false goodbyes to robin never seemed that genuine. even the embarrassing balloon incident.meecrofilm wrote:The problem was/is that the Robin character has sucked for years. And they also did the "Ted closing the book on Robin" schtick like 5 separate times, which also served as a tool for the audience to move on from that whole thing as well -- and if they didn't intend for that to be the effect those scenes had, then they're pretty clueless.

Re: TV Shows
I guess I just wanted them to be real because her character was so annoying for so long -- and the mother was just far superior. I still don't think they needed to do how many of them they actually did (plus a myriad of other things, but I'm not going to spend too much time getting bent out of shape about it).shmenguin wrote:i don't know if it's because the guy who plays ted is a really good actor or a really bad one, but all those false goodbyes to robin never seemed that genuine. even the embarrassing balloon incident.meecrofilm wrote:The problem was/is that the Robin character has sucked for years. Plus, I don't think it painted the Ted character in a good light at all (or his kids):
Kids: Dad, we want to hear the full story of how you met our mother.
Dad: Ok, sure, you're old enough now. Here's a bunch of stuff about an increasingly far less superior character/person who is not your mother.
Kids: Well, that story wasn't about mom at all. No biggie. You should go bang Robin, you know you wanna.

No. Have you seen Six Feet Under? Best ending ever. Can never be topped. Leaves NO questions unanswered and no stone unturned.DudeMan2766 wrote:The Office Finale was perfectHockeynut! wrote:The Six Feet Under finale was perfect.blackjack68 wrote:Has anyone ever been happy with a finale?

I agree with whoever said the mother was marginalized. I'm OK with the end game, but they should have led up to it better. Maybe instead of wasting an entire season on one wedding weekend, they could have spared some episodes on making the transition from "Tracy Mcconnell" (is there a less fitting name) to Robin better.

I am soooo glad that I didn't invest the time necessary for that show. That ending to HIMYM annoyed me, and I am not even invested in the characters.

Re: TV Shows
My wife was reading the spoilers for HIMYM. She asked, do you want to know how it ends? Meh...sure, I'm never going to watch all the episodes, why not.

I enjoyed it. They wrapped up a lot of the little things that were shown throughout the 9 seasons. Also, that one episode a few weeks ago softened the blow of finding out the mother died. I was suprised he ended up with Robin, but it made sense after all was said and done.
Funny how those two kids knew the ending 7 years ago when they filmed their parts.

That may be part of the issue though. Some of the stuff they did during the last few weeks were reflected back in seasons past and tied things together. A lot of small things.Rylan wrote:I am soooo glad that I didn't invest the time necessary for that show. That ending to HIMYM annoyed me, and I am not even invested in the characters.

Re: TV Shows
It felt rushed but that's probably because they were told the series was cancelled during filming? Almost like the last season of Saved by the Bell where they added a bunch of disjointed episodes in the middle with new characters.Beveridge wrote:I was happy with the Psych series finale.

Re: TV Shows
i agree. i think people feel betrayed by the title of the show, but everything we've seen for 9 years has been revolving around ted's obsession with robin, so the ending makes a lot of sense.newarenanow wrote:I enjoyed it. it's funny though...ted got his kids and robin got her career, and they still ended up together anyways. thanks for helping out, dead lady.
