Tap Room 21's Belgian White is excellent. I wasn't expecting much after their wheat beer, but this is great.

I was at Shaler GE this pm and could have sworn I saw it on tap, if not in the aisles.Michael Scott wrote:Anyone seen the Anchor IPA around?
In other news, no Old Curmudgeon yet. And I missed out on the Helltown dark lager by a day when I went a couple weeks ago.
So, in other news, I then picked up a 4 of Founders Breakfast Stout and a 6 of Optimator.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Sam Adams Rebel IPA is pretty good, but it does not top my favorite IPA under $10.... GLBC's Commodore Perry.
I will enjoy a few rebel IPA's and either fall asleep before the game or fall asleep during the game.

Apparently Ommegang's Fire and Blood Ale will be released at the end of March. I'm still kind of bummed that I never got to try Iron Throne Ale or Take The Black Stout. Looks like they have 3 separate labels, one for each dragon... pretty cool. " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
They carry Sweet Baby Jesus at Market District Iggle in Robinson. They have it in the mix and match section, but I'm sure you could probably grab it cheaper than the $12.99 that is advertised in the mix and match area. I bought three, which I think is plenty.the wicked child wrote:Most interesting beer of the night was probably Sweet Baby Jesus by Duclaw. It is listed as a "Peanut Butter Porter". It smells like a peanut butter cup. The taste is unfortunately not quite on par with the AMAZING aroma. You could really taste the peanuts in the brew, but it didn't really deliver on the promise of peanut butter cups overall. Still a solid brew, one worth trying if you have a chance, but prob. not something you'd get a case of.
And your description of it is quite accurate. I expected more in the taste, but the smell is amazing.

Mad Hatter Imperial IPA is incredibly smooth. Quite good. Lots of grapefruit.

Also, I'd recommend Dive Bar in Wexford, if you don't mind not being able to see the menu because it's so damn dark

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
So the wife and I stopped at the Wexford Ale House for dinner last night. The service was ridiculously bad. I order a Troegs Hopback and my wife ordered a Hacker Pschorr Hefe. 5 minutes later she comes back with my beer, but informs us that the Hacker kicked (it was their 'mystery beer' for the day). My wife then orders a Ithaca Ground Break. That beer comes out with our dinners. We're already a bit peeved, but figure that it is getting more crowded and give her the benefit of the doubt. Halfway thru dinner, she checks on us and we decide to order another beer to 'save her a trip'. After the dirty look she gave us (seriously), I order a Bell's Smitten (wanted to try it) and my wife orders a Fatheads Trail Head. We've finished our meals when out comes a Bell's Smitten...and a Fatheads Hop JuJu. I immediately notice the error, and mention it to our waitress. She says 'oh I must've put it in wrong, but that one is really good'. I said 'I know, but my wife won't like it...and it's much more expensive.' Blank stare. My wife says 'don't worry about it, I'll drink the Bell's'. Waitress says 'okay' and walks away. *As a sidenote, the Hop JuJu is exquisite. You need to be a bit of a hophead to enjoy it, but it is sooo good.*
Flash forward to the bill coming. The Hop JuJu was $2.50 more than the others...which were not a deal at $5.50 each. I'm not happy, but just looking to get out of there. That's when my wife overhears the table behind her complaining about ordering chips and salsa, but getting the $10 nachos grande! Suffice it to say, the waitress likes to upcharge. I took the $2.50 off of her tip, and will be logging on to Yelp later today.
Great beers all around, but what a horrible experience.

Never go to the Ale House for dinner on a weekend. It's always packed and they have an extremely small staff (like less than 3 people working at any given time).

Stopped at the Shaler GE tonight to grab some brews for the true detective finale. Saw that Southern Tier and smuttynose each have a saison out now. Saisons blowing up!

That would be like your favorite band "selling out." I'd be very angry with the saison for selling out if it got to that point, ha.columbia wrote:I understand that there's a Iron City saison ready to hit the market.

Awesome. Definitely well-balanced hops vs. malts. Was really good with my 'rachel' sandwich.KennyTheKangaroo wrote:How did you like the hopback? This gentleman had a bottle of hopback at d's yesterday and really enjoyed it.malkinshair wrote: I order a Troegs Hopback

I was drunk. I thought you were one of the people who loved IC Light Mango. I may have been wrong.
