I like what they're doing. It's hard work to undo the last showrunner's mistakes and build some actual dimension to these characters. I still don't care about Glenn, for instance, but I'm getting there.

I hope it's misdirection with dr mullet's goofiness. Because if there's some twist later that he doesn't know anything about anything, it wouldn't really be a twist.

i feel like, right now, we're supposed to believe the premise that he's legit, but i can't imagine who would buy that. and if that's not true, and we're supposed to think he's full of it, it just makes these new characters look like total boneheads for buying it. unless abraham has a different motive for going to washington, which seems possible based on that blech conversation with tara - whose capable acting may have been a fluke last week.

so i guess there's a possibility that it's an obvious twist wrapped in a less obvious twist...which is a decent maneuver by the writers.

I think that's why Glenn didn't give a crap and just left. He was inside the CDC and knows there's no government anymore. And in this world classified shouldn't exist.

I need to reread the Abraham issues to see why he is blindly following Eugene.

No, Carl's episode three weks ago was a load of ****. This? Far, far worse. We found out Darryl was a bum who followed Merle around. And then they celebrate on Talking Dead we finally found out what Darryl was doing before the outbreak. WTF?

And if they were playing "I Never" with moonshine, Beth at least would be on the floor passed out in about 10 minutes. If Darryl drank enough to have to piss like that he'd be there too.

And yes, let's burn down secure shelter in the middle of the night after we sat awake in a trunk of a **** car and had no sleep for three days.

Maybe Darryl is just a follower and now he's following a stupid girl's plan?

Yeah I had a problem with that whole moonshine scenario. Considering Beth's size, lack of food, and the fact she's never had a drink before, she would have passed out on on her first sip most likely.

I knew a girl who once passed out on a half a shot of peach schnapps because of her size strangely enough.

Clealry Darryl really never left Merle's side and went to college or maybe even some high school. Peach Schnapps is EXACTLY what you give a silly little girl as her first drink.

But I think it's cool to have a 40ish man insist that a teenage girl's first drink should be something a bit stronger like **** moonshine. I know borederline alcholics who won't go near the stuff.

I enjoyed a couple elements of the show but this clearly looks like a "let's save money episode." Only had to pay 2 main actors, a large part of it was in the woods/a trunk...and then all they had to do was dirty up a couple of rooms in the golf club and a shack.

I wish they would have went more into detail about what went down at the country club. In Talking Dead they mentioned there was a "class warfare" type deal (which we saw with the "RICH B***" dead lady) but there were tons of random dead people, some hanging, some suicide I imagine. A lot was left out there. Good idea to develop Beth and DD more, but not quite like this.

I don't think the TV people respect their audience enough. Lighting a giant fire at night when you have nowhere else to go presently and you just escaped a herd in a trunk. I think everyone watching knew that was a terrible idea.

The logic, or lack there of, that pretty much all of the characters show on a regular basis is my biggest problem with the show. I understand that things have to go wrong to create drama, but so often it feels incredibly forced. Add in subpar writing (I enjoy character developing episodes but make them seem real, last night was cliche after cliche) and questionable acting and it all is a bit of a mess. I like the show, but it feels like it could be so much better is only they tried a little harder.

What's up with the "mummified" zombies? Like the people at the golf club. And the family in the pink room from the last episode.
What killed them after they became undead, because I didn't see any trauma to their brains?

Until the goofy end, I didn't really dislike this episode. It's a marathon. Not a sprint. So when they spend an hour building up characters, I think that's fine. Even though Darryl's big reveal of his past life was predictable, I feel like he's still a more interesting character than he was a week ago. And now Beth is actually part of the show, so when she bites it, it's going to mean something. So yeah, moonshine was a bad choice, and burning down the house was even worse. But I prefer this to a bunch of the zombie porn episodes they've done in the past.

The whole episode was just silly. Fine, we want to do a character development episode with Beth and Darryl... but the entire premise of the episode was stupid. We just saw them sleeping in the trunk of a car to escape the horde, but now they're going to go off on a mission for some booze just because Beth randomly decides she needs to try alcohol now? These decisions are not consistent with people who would have survived this long.

Setting the house on fire in the middle of the night was up there in the annoyance factor for me with people being able to headshot zombies at 50 yards, but conveniently forget how to shoot at critical junctures. And the song at the end was awful and annoying.

I'm not really sure I care all that much about any particular character at this point, tbh. I watch because it largely still entertains me, but I don't find myself particularly anticipating it anymore.

I am not sure if they said the virus was always airborne. So maybe when some people committed suicide or otherwise died earlier...they didn't turn. - OR - you couldn't see the head wounds.

If the people knew what was going on and were killing each other or committing suicide, they would have stabbed the brain and then rotted. It has been quite some time now so if was a simple stab (especially into the eye) - you wouldn't notice much among the rotting flesh unless you looked close. The one (grandma?) in the rocking chair int he pink room did have a head wound I recall seeing - didnt see the back of the others heads.

I guess if we suspend disbeleief that a pack of morons who make questionable decisions every day can survive this long then sure.

The hate for this episode is laughable. Did you honestly want a Tom Hanks 'school teacher' moment from Saving Private Ryan for Darryl? There couldn't be two different characters on the show than Darryl and Beth. They have nothing in common. The awkwardness and tension between the two felt genuine, IMO. There were some cliched moments, and the fire at the end was a little over the top (maybe the fire is seen by one of the other groups...or the smoke the next morning), but we know more about each character than we did before.

I'm not sure what people expect from this show anymore.
