Dejan just posted a story in the Trib. Official word is the stomach flu, but Nick Zaccardi (NBC Olympic Talk) and a random Fox reporter swear they saw a "wrap" or "cast" on his arm.PensFanInDC wrote:**** Canada
So what is the real story with Martin? Cast or stomach bug?
Instead of worrying about his secret Starbucks, maybe Dejan should actually do...I don't know...his job and find out for himself?

I'm hoping for a rift in the Vancouver locker room, when only one of the Sedins has a silver medal.

Ok, Rossi just tweeted Martin definitely has a hand injury. No timetable for return to playing for the Pens.
Could mean it's broken. Geez...
He certainly breaks a lot of bones. I don't think he gets enough calcium.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
Consider the OT penalties in yesterday's women's final.
If they start at 4v4 in OT, then went 3v3 after the penalties with a 5-second differential. OK, then USA gets a penalty and Canada is on a 4v3. I get that. Now when the Canadian player comes out of the box, now it's a 5v3 for 5 seconds. Eventually the 2 USA players have to come out of the box.
Forget the goal was scored. What I'm getting at is, if the whistle doesn't blow, both teams would play 5v5 for the remainder of OT? Thus going against the 4v4 format?

Haha thats kind of funny...also I wouldn't have a problem with it. I agree though, if you are doing 4 v 4 in ot, then there should only be 5 skaters for one team on the ice if there is a delayed penalty and the goalie comes out.

I would expect those "extra" players have to stay in the box until a stoppage in play to keep it 4v4.Cu11en wrote:Consider the OT penalties in yesterday's women's final.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
Last note on the women's final. When you are dominating and suddenly crawl into a shell like the US did with 4-1/2 minutes left, you don't necessarily "deserve to lose," but you definitely "deserve to lose your lead."
That's always been my philosophy, and I'd say the same thing about the Pens and Steelers.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
Oops, I read a Puck Daddy article. I can't even blame the writer. This is entirely on me.
Oftentimes before a big game between two heated rivals, a columnist will roll out a setup piece in which he touts himself as objective, but repeatedly demonstrates a clear, shameful, and wholly unprofessional bias for one team or the other.
I am a Canadian, but I want you to know that, on the eve of Canada and the USA's big tilt for a berth in the gold medal game at the Olympic hockey tournament, I'm not going to do that.
I don't have to. I can say, from a place of perfect objectivity, that the Canadians are a better team in every way

This isn't really directed at you Cerv but I've had enough of this argument/point. I've seen it a few times on twitter already this morning, people acting like we have no right being upset Martin is out because he was criticized (rightfully) in the past. The guy has been given enormous credit for turning his play aroundCERV96 wrote:Remember when everyone hated Paul Martin?

it's pretty tongue-in-cheek. though there is some weird sincerity in there, too. it's a very confusing "article"skullman80 wrote:Unreal.

Yeah I thought the guy was just being a dbag just to be a dbag, but it comes across both as serious and trolling just to troll. So I dunno.

No, apparently he never played poorly. People disliked him, they didn't just criticize him.DudeMan2766 wrote:This isn't really directed at you Cerv but I've had enough of this argument/point.
