I don't entirely disagree with him, but it would carry more credibility if he was presenting the argument before Tavares got hurt. This is probably a CBA issue. The league agreed that the players could go, so he really has no legs to stand on.

Yeah but if the puck went 1/2 inch to the left, they would have missed the goal completelyDelPen wrote:But smaller nets means they miss completelyHumperdink wrote:The women's basketball 28.5", 1" smaller than the men's ball.
The women's volleyball net height is 7' 11 5/8" for men and 7' 4 1/8" for women.
In hockey, the puck is the same diameter for both. If they would have switched to a smaller diameter puck for the ladies, we take home the gold. (Ref: empty post hit by the US women would have been a goal -game over).

If the puck would have gone into the net, the US would have won.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
I watched the entire game at the gym. Not one person was near me then the last 5 minutes of regulation 3 old ladies decided that my tv was the one they were going to watch and stood behind me talking every second of the last 5 minutes. 2 of them first asked me if it was the mens or the womens game, then after they talked and talked and talked some more they then explained to me and each other about 5 times that if the puck went in that open net that would have sealed the game.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
That quote always made me mad. Quarter of an inch one way it would have gone in, but a quarter of an inch the other way it would've missed completely. Wtf kind of posts were they using?DudeMan2766 wrote:Yeah but if the puck went 1/2 inch to the left, they would have missed the goal completelyDelPen wrote:But smaller nets means they miss completelyHumperdink wrote:The women's basketball 28.5", 1" smaller than the men's ball.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
I've seen countries argue in terms of medals per capita, which brings the rankings back to the small countries. That's even more flawed, because we aren't allowed to enter 5 hockey and 4 curling teams if we have 5x the population.Idoit40fans wrote:The problem with counting medals(which im sure is why the US does it) is that its a huge advantage for the huge countries that compete in every single event.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
Yeah thats flawed too. I like either just counting golds and using silver/bronze as a tiebreaker or weighting all medals.

Huge blow to the Fins. Still think they'll come through. Selanne vs. Alfie one more time.Gaucho wrote:Lehtonen replaces Rask, Tuukka is sick.
