So it should be treated as a penalty being called in a 5 on 3 situation then. 4 on 3, then once the first penalty expires, the third starts.DelPen wrote:can't have less than 3 players on the ice at a time.mac5155 wrote:how does it magically become 5 on 3?

What point is that suppose to make?DelPen wrote:Prevent defense was fine. It's just the stupid way these women play hockey. Sorry ladies, but a state champion boys high school team would destroy either of these teams even without checking.Humperdink wrote:Well, that stinks.

No, a male coach from the NHL can't make them play not stupid or make them play beyond their physical ability. Coaching in Women's hockey is like saying coaching in 5 year old rec soccer matters.tifosi77 wrote:I think he meant that Kevin Dineen is a girl.llipgh2 wrote:I think a hockey coach would be more agressive in the third, and have his team play to win, not to play not to lose. That's how the US looked to me in the third.DelPen wrote:I don't see any difference between the two.llipgh2 wrote:This is why the US Women's hockey team needs a hockey coach. Not a "women's hockey coach". Canada is coached by Kevin Dineen, for crying out loud.

The **** slash was a **** call, no reason to call that except that you are making a point that you don't want a powerplay goal to win the game.

Should it have gotten to OT? probably not. Were they hosed? Pretty much.Grunthy wrote:Was the USA really hosed in OT? I was only following the internet updates.

That strategy doesn't matter when lack of ability prevents basic execution.meow wrote:What point is that suppose to make?DelPen wrote:Prevent defense was fine. there is a silver lining (hehe... get it?) in that the USA team is collectively way hotter than the canadian team.

OK ladies, I realize that you just had an OT Game and all, but dinner had better be ready in a couple of hours or I'm going to go all Ray Rice on you.
Seriously, what a dreck of a game the US had won and just choked. Officiating...awful. Hockey itself.......not good whatsoever.

I thought it was NHL-caliber officiating - in other words I agree with you.llipgh2 wrote:The officiating in all the women's games has just been abysmal.

I told a coworker that I played in beer leagues that had faster skating and better overall play and he gave me side eye. "Are you saying you could play with Olympic-level hockey players?" Yes. Yes, I am.DelPen wrote:Prevent defense was fine. It's just the stupid way these women play hockey. And by the looks of it, my beer leagues had better officiating, too.

Makes you wonder if the result would have been different had the president traveled to Sochi to support the team ![Popcorn :pop:](./images/smilies/popcorn.gif)

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
How many times could anyone have passed from the corner boards to the point for a wide open one-timer but decided to just turn back into two defenders towards the net?
So infuriating to watch that over and over again.

Well that's a given. Frankly on the olympic ice i see no need for 4 on 4. There's plenty of room already.DelPen wrote:Hey, I don't make the stupid and convulting rules, I just report them.mac5155 wrote:So it should be treated as a penalty being called in a 5 on 3 situation then. 4 on 3, then once the first penalty expires, the third starts.DelPen wrote:can't have less than 3 players on the ice at a time.mac5155 wrote:how does it magically become 5 on 3?

A good men's high school basketball team versus the USA women's olympic basketball team in a game of basketball - who would win and what would the score be?

If the President had hand picked the coach, this would have gone much better.shafnutz05 wrote:Makes you wonder if the result would have been different had the president traveled to Sochi to support the team
