Canada 3 and Finland 4.llipgh2 wrote:Sweden is #1 seed. US#2.
So that would set up a possible USA Canada semifinal matchup.

They can still medal. You have to play into the quarterfinals if you aren't a top 4 seed.Pitts wrote:So, who plays who?

If Russia beats Norway, they'll play the 4 seed in the quarters.

This is a Wikipedia link, so it's perhaps not 100% reliable although very likely to be right: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_hockey ... tournament" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
USA and Canada are on one side of the bracket. Sweden and Finland are on the other. Russia plays Finland assuming they get past Norway. Sweden faces the winner of Slovenia-Austria. USA draws the winner of Czechs-Slovaks. Canada draws the winner of Switzerland-Latvia.

I don't understand why grunthy said it wasn't true...but it is.
We cannot face Canada in the gold medal game as they are the 3 seed.

Why is there a discussion about Crosby after every period? I thought he looked good today

They didn't call anything either way. Jamie Benn was hooked the entire way down the ice and then got killed from behind into the boards and there was no call. 5 minutes before that Benn cross checked Ruutu into the boards and there was no call. They were consistent both ways.penny lane wrote:bullcrap~ finns deserved better. refs are garbage. In any tournament, refs afraid to do their job.

Tuukka Rask shouldn't have let that one up, and Finland should've scored more than a goal.
Non-calls didn't change a thing.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
NBC made it confusing the way the listed the seeds. They listed 1,2,3,4 - like you would for the Stanley Cup Playoffs where re-seeding takes place. The better way to display it on screen would have been 1,4 2,3.

Crosby, individually, has looked fine all tournament. But his line did not until today. It seemed like he worked well with Benn and Bergeron.Trip McNeely wrote:Why is there a discussion about Crosby after every period? I thought he looked good today

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
So if they play Friday, are we talking 7:30 or noon?
I have a meeting at 8:30 on Friday, that I can't skip out on.

Dejan Kovacevic @Dejan_Kovacevic
Maatta visibly displeased with outcome: ‘We can play better defensively.’ This after one regulation goal to Canada. Finns’ confidence high.

And the announcers said that we wouldn't face them until the finals also.

What exactly is wrong with using a simple and straightforward format?
