Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
If Can-Fin doesn't go to OT tomorrow (and nothing wonky happens)... the rankings will be:
1. Winner of Can-Fin
2. Swe
3. USA
4. Rus
5. Loser of Can-Fin
6. Sui
...
Which means USA will likely play the Swiss in the quarterfinals, and Sweden in the semi's.
Assuming Canada beats Finland, you'd have:
Quarterfinals:
Can vs. somebody
Swe vs somebody
USA vs Sui
Rus vs Finland
Semis:
Swe vs USA
Can vs Rus/Fin
A USA vs Rus rematch for the gold would be sweet.

That Can-Fin game should be intense. Huge stakes for the next round.

Give DB some props today for constantly putting TJ Oshie out there on the shootout because the rules allow it. He's obviously one of the best if not the best in the world on shootouts and DB kept saying "you." It worked. WIN.
Now, playing the Swiss......that could be a very difficult game. Think the US matches up better with Canada than the Swiss who are very damn solid right now.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
If Oshie goes 3-6 and loses it, people are screaming how dumb it was to just go with one guy. I don't think it was the best move just because they ended up winning, but I will give Dan a ton of credit because I didn't think the US would play this well (granted its 2 games) but they look more complete than any team I think and I wouldn't have guessed that as the case going in.brwi wrote:Give DB some props today for constantly putting TJ Oshie out there on the shootout because the rules allow it. I'll give credit to the Russians fans because it didn't seem like they were going crazy for calls every time one of their players got tapped or fell onto the ice. I really expected the crowd to resemble Montreal.

You have to wear one if born 1975 or later. Not sure how old he is.

A lot of people are pissed right now, NBCSN was supposed to replay the USA/Russia game but the Switzerland/Czech game is on instead for some dumb reason.

I've been watching games OnDemand all day, stuff I didn't get to see in whole previously...so perhaps it's OnDemand or online?

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
I can on the NBC Olympics Website and rewatch any event from today, including all of the hockey games. I really doubt there is anyone in the United States that wants to rewatch the Czech game when the USA replay was supposed to be on. Instead it seems like they decided to only replay the overtime/shootout on NBC. Horrible decision made by someone at NBC.mikey287 wrote:I've been watching games OnDemand all day, stuff I didn't get to see in whole previously...so perhaps it's OnDemand or online?
Edit: I hit post before I saw Randall's post. That's pretty dumb to replay it tomorrow, I feel bad for anyone that wanted to tune into the replay without knowing the results to the game. Instead they probably turned this game on where they have mentioned the USA won at least 20 times.

If you pick a guy and he goes 3-6, you made the right call no matter the outcome.DudeMan2766 wrote:If Oshie goes 3-6 and loses it, people are screaming how dumb it was to just go with one guy. To commemorate the disallowed goal by Russia, here is even more masterful performance (Igor Murin, Slovakian goalie playing for CZech Extraleague's HC Zlin, 2005):

So I heard on the radio that Slava Voynov accused Quick of knocking the net off on purpose.

Yep. His quote was something like "I play with him, I know his style". Should be interesting when both are back playing for LA.SolidSnake wrote:So I heard on the radio that Slava Voynov accused Quick of knocking the net off on purpose.
