What was the drama, the stars on the shoulders? I like them. Think I might need to find an Orpik jersey.penny lane wrote:for all of the drama about the USA uniforms, they look good.

Malkin knows he has to be the puck-getter on his line. Playing well.
I can feel the internet waiting for Orpik to lose his **** on the big ice against this skill. Pretty solid so far.

USA GMRS talks about how his Dad was able to visit the USSR and Russian hockey in today's PG
Read more: http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/olym ... z2tObhJ4Wt" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; But there was Fred Shero, traveling to the Soviet Union for extended stays, one time for a three-week symposium. The man was captivated. How were they doing it? He won the Stanley Cup in 1974, so he could have easily been convinced he had it all figured out, yet he couldn’t stay away from the Soviet Union. Then he won the Cup again in 1975.
“Back then, no one exchanged ideas,” Ray says. “For him back in ’74 to go over to learn from the Russians, to share information, I think that was great. There was a mystique around them, you know? You’d only see them when playing in the Olympics, and they win all these gold medals. The Red Army was fascinating and intriguing stuff back then.”
The Soviets at that time just played differently than North Americans. They were graceful, possessing the puck for long periods of time, much more fluid than the dump-the-puck-and-chase style of the NHL.
“Russia has made us better, has made Canada better, has made hockey better in general,” Ray says.

PghSkins - are you settin fruity picks and ****?
I'm good with where we are here. A couple shifts on either side of the Russian PP were wonky. But not a lot of great chances either way. Lost contain down-low on the Radulov power move. Other way, I like our exits, just a nervous play by Wheels hurt us some, but I like our exits, I like our spacing. Tough to do because of the wide ice, but a small area cycle on the weaker D men would generate some chances and momentum. Bob looks a little uncomfortable right now, an early PP goal here could plant some doubt seeds that could grow into a full-on meltdown if we're lucky. Let's get greasy here, grind these ******* down...

Morning all! Missed the first 10 minutes of the game, but I don't see the US having any speed advantage in this game.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
This reads like it was taken right from the USA white board. If it included a "let's get our game, boys," I'd think DB took minute to post on here.mikey287 wrote:PghSkins - are you settin fruity picks and ****?
