I wish I could find a radio station carrying the games. The free NBC feed has too many ads.

MZA left off the "Aasen." Booo.
If Norway still had Tore Vikingstad, then they'd be up in this game.

Sid can't score so he's resorting to punching defenseless Norwegians. Goon.

I've been saying this for the past couple years, but Fleury & Price are basically the same goaltender. Price just hasn't developed his reputation to the same extent as Fleury.llipgh2 wrote:Very Price of Price. He has a tendency to do stupid things.offsides wrote:Very Fleuryesk by Price.

They won't make it there if they have to drag Sid's lifeless carcass around.llipgh2 wrote:Saving it for the gold medal game.Rocco wrote:No points for Sid? Gutless choking hoser.

The best quote I've seen all day was "Why is Canada's best player playing with their two worst wingers?"Rocco wrote:No points for Sid? Gutless choking hoser.

(Is that right? My French is not just rusty; it's propped up on blocks in the junkyard.)

Obviously I want USA to win, but I would love nothing more than to see Duchene with Crosby. Oh my god, that speed and open ice...

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
Given our Goal Differential of +6 (and impending likely addition to that with a win over a relatively weak Slovenian team on Sunday) compared to Finland +4, Russia +3, Sweden +2, Canada +2, and Czechs -2, isn't it very likely that regardless of the outcome of our game against Russia, that we will still get a top four seed and a bye? Let's say we lose close in regulation to Russia.
With a goal differential of +4 or +5 and a likely win by 3+ goals against Slovenia, wouldn't it be very very likely that a 2-1-0-0 (6 points) with +8 goal differential still gives us a top four bye? Last Olympics, USA's +9 goal differential was the best in the entire tournament for perspective.

Well, I mean, it's a valid question. Although when Nash is on the team, not sure it's entirely accurate...tfrizz wrote:The best quote I've seen all day was "Why is Canada's best player playing with their two worst wingers?"Rocco wrote:No points for Sid? Gutless choking hoser.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
If we can manufacture a tie on Saturday we'll essentially have the group locked up. Russian would need to beat Slovakia by 3 goals more than the amount we beat Slovenia by, which seems tremendously unlikely.malksby8771 wrote:Given our Goal Differential of +6 (and impending likely addition to that with a win over a relatively weak Slovenian team on Sunday) compared to Finland +4, Russia +3, Sweden +2, Canada +2, and Czechs -2, isn't it very likely that regardless of the outcome of our game against Russia, that we will still get a top four seed and a bye? Exactly. A tie would be huge, actually even taking Russia to OT assures of a bye. But yea you're right a tie gives us the group most likely.
