Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
It was a real microbrew 20 years ago. Magic Hat Red Ale was great. They had a couple seasonals that were good. Then they decided to brew tons of different beers and broadly expand the distribution. All downhill from there. Pyramid bought them to help with that, but quality was down before that.columbia wrote:I've never had any of their beer, mainly because I assumed it was one of those fake microbrew companies.

Not really impressed at this point though they say:

There WILL BE over 300 Craft Beers at this event with plenty of special beers, but we are still working with our Wholesaler partners to get us CONFIRMED lists. We never want to post the beers, even if discussed and told they are coming, until they definitively on the supplier's invoices. We apologze for the delays. As with all of our festivals, we will gladly refund you purchase if you are dissatisfies with the List once completed. You'll have 48 hours after is posted to ask for this refund.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
This looks like a last minute decision. They are identifying the beers that are available only with the Connoisseur ticket, but a peach beer is not something I am interested in (and which has middling reviews in any event).

They've announced about 40 out of supposedly 300+ beers... a little early to make any kind of determination about the overall quality.

In Cleveland tonight, picked up some of this....
Very nice. Maybe a little too carbonated but I'm nitpicking. Hops almost perfectly for my taste.
Also, whatever happened to having a bottle opener on the bathroom wall in a hotel room? And why do I not have one with me anyway? Meh, nightstand drawer handle did the trick.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I have a confession: Southern Tier sucks ball bag. There I said it.
Ok, sucks is harsh, but overrated, definitely. Never had a single beer of theirs that made think I needed to have it again. Their Choklat is probably the closest.

That's an interesting take. And by interesting, I mean silly. :pop:slappybrown wrote:I have a confession: Southern Tier sucks ball bag. There I said it.

I basically concur with this. Pumking is special, Chok is good, oat ok.slappybrown wrote:I have a confession: Southern Tier sucks ball bag. There I said it.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Here's my take on the ST beers I've had. Creme brûlée, Chok, Inequity, and 2xipa are superior for their categories. IPA and 2xRye are very good. Compass is ok. Christmas is awful.

To be fair, I've never had the creme brûlée or the inequity.MWB wrote:Here's my take on the ST beers I've had. Creme brûlée, Chok, Inequity, and 2xipa are superior for their categories. IPA and 2xRye are very good. Compass is ok. Christmas is awful.
That said, Kraftster and I agreeing means the conclusion cannot be disproven.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Forgot about Oat, that is also superior. Shaf will agree with me, and since everyone agreed with shaf on Magic Hat, we cannot be disproven, as a result of the distributive property.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I've liked most of the ST beers I've had. Pumking is the worst, IMO. I realize that goes against the majority here, but I couldn't even drink it.

Pumking doesn't enter into this for me, since I've never had it. Pumpkin and beer? Disgusting. Actually, pumpkin by itself is disgusting.
