Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
Sounds like Florida's Sean Bergenheim is the likely replacement for Filppula.
Edit:
Wow, the hits just keep coming for Finland...

I didn't even realize he was Finnish. Not sure what I thought he was. Bergenheim that is.

Bergenheim sounds incredibly German.
Also, since Koivu is out, I believe that means Jarkko Immonen also will get a spot.

Maybe Saku will decide to go represent the family.

One name not on the list is four-time Olympian Saku Koivu. According to Finnish reporter Matias Strozyk, Koivu was on the final list up until a few days ago before withdrawing from consideration because he wasn't happy with his recovery from a concussion he suffered in October that cause him to miss a month.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
Yes...that situation is exactly why I suggested him. He was on their short list before 2 people were ruled out...and it has been a month since he removed himself.

I had the Finns to win at least a bronze. Now I'm not so sure.

Gold: Canada
Silver: USA
Bronze: Russia
Going out on a limb with these picks I know... I just don't see how anyone can stop the Canadians
Edit: Ehh screw it, I'm changing it to USA, Kessel and Kane can beat price a few times

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
I feel like USA is going to flop. Probably just the black cloud leftover from the articles written about the selection process but it's just a feeling I've had.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
I assume the US and Canada are pretty even...though the defense the US is taking looks significantly worse that last time around. I still feel good about the US goalies against any other real contender though.

I say Russia, Canada and whatever Czech/Slovokia team that has Chara are the ones to medal.

I'll frankly be pretty surprised if Russia medals. They don't look exceptional in any of their groups of players.

The Russian blue line is a train wreck. I'd be shocked if they medal.Idoit40fans wrote:I'll frankly be pretty surprised if Russia medals. They don't look exceptional in any of their groups of players.

home soil on the larger euro rink are what i'm betting on. I guess I just see Ovechkin and Malkin being able to get them atleast a bronze.

If Nikita Nikitin is in your top 6 for a "Best of the best" tournament, you're gonna have a bad time.
