When you go to the deli and buy cheese, but by the time you get home, the cheese was at a slightly warmer temperature. Because of that, when you try to peel a slice, you end up tearing bits off the now-fused block of cheese, and it is impossible to get clean slices.

When I read through this thread and think 'well, that's an odd thing to get all bent about!'
Duh, that's the point.

I have a similar spelling pet peeve. Whenever I see it, I just want to loose my mind. It makes me more angry than when the Pens loose a game. Can you all guess what it is?Sarcastic wrote:defiantly

Unexpected burps. Was that loud enough for the person in the next office to hear?
Similarly, when you move in a leather chair, particularly in a quiet meeting, and it sounds like a fart. No! I swear, it was just the chair!

Me and one other person in the office get these individual hiccup like things. They aren't burps, they are just single violent hiccups.PghSkins wrote:Unexpected burps. Was that loud enough for the person in the next office to hear?

Re: Your irrational pet peeves
On rare occasions I get violent hiccups where each one is followed by an involuntary belch. They go "hic-braapp" in one continuous noise. Funny to listen to, but they actually hurt if they go on for more than 30 seconds or so.Jim wrote:Me and one other person in the office get these individual hiccup like things. What about when the ref "waives" off a goal, as opposed to the correct "waving" off a goal?Shyster wrote:I have a similar spelling pet peeve. Whenever I see it, I just want to loose my mind. I hate when people waist my time with spelling. It's rediculousMRandall25 wrote:What about when the ref "waives" off a goal, as opposed to the correct "waving" off a goal?Shyster wrote:I have a similar spelling pet peeve. I haven't personally seen that one, although Garner's Dictionary of Legal Usage recognizes it as a common malapropism.MRandall25 wrote:What about when the ref "waives" off a goal, as opposed to the correct "waving" off a goal?

In the neighborhood I grew up in, there was a sign that said "No Brake Retarders." Always made me giggle.shafnutz05 wrote:Jerkoff truck drivers that spam their engine brakes.

Re: Your irrational pet peeves
Back when I was in college, I lived on Craig Street in North Oakland. One year, the city was repaving the street, and heavy trucks carrying asphalt constantly were driving up and down. It's about 7:00 a.m., the weather is warm, and I'm sleeping in the couch in my apartment right under an open window, which faces the street. I don't know why in the name of God the moronic piece of **** driving that particular dump truck thought it would be a good idea to use his jake brake smack in the middle of a residential neighborhood (and right across from a school), but the result was BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP fired out his exhaust stacks, which were basically pointed right at my window. I actually shot off the couch and landed on the floor, hurting my side in the process.shafnutz05 wrote:I wish they had them here, but living about a quarter mile from Route 30, no chance.viva la ben wrote:I see those no jake brake signs all over rural western PA

People who take cell phone photos (or worse: videos) in portrait orientation instead of landscape, the latter of which more closely approximates the field of view of the human eye.

Ordering a bagel and cream cheese at a place like Panera and being handed a container of cheese and a plastic knife.
It really shouldn't be too hard to schmear it on the bagel for the customer.
