I'd say keeping Nabokov, losing Streit and not replacing him with anyone, while not really doing much to add to his team from last year, isn't exactly "doing a good job".
But I'm not sure that answers the question.

I'd like to think 98% of the Islanders' problems are because Charles Wang is the worst owner in the league.

It is a mix of both. Outside of last year, the Isles haven't been really "good". So, that goes on the GM and ownership.

1 up, 1 down for meow from my view.meow wrote:I'd like to think 98% of the Islanders' problems are because Charles Wang is the worst owner in the league.
1 up - Wang has been worse than Snow by a good margin.
1 down - DD has been more size than ability since junior, in my opinion...never did care for him...still surprised that he had negative value, thought it would just be a flat "none."

No doubting the fact that he is a big body that has comparable crease movements to Ray Emery. You can get away with having awful movement when you have a big body, but only when it is used correctly. What good is a 6'5" frame when you go down early and stay down late? Hopefully Nashville can teach him a load and push.mikey287 wrote:1 up, 1 down for meow from my view.meow wrote:I'd like to think 98% of the Islanders' problems are because Charles Wang is the worst owner in the league.

the islanders play like losers and act like losers. wang's cheapness is problematic, but he's not the one who cultivated the loser culture on the isle.

That sort of culture starts at the top.

I agree. I think Snow has done an above average job at worst.meow wrote:That's one of those on-going jokes that is waaaay off base, but somehow continues.Kraftster wrote:Do you think Snow has done poorly as a GM?Kovy27 wrote:LOL! Re: Oilers trade Dubnyk to Nashville
Well, he's been there since 2006 and they've made the playoffs twice and aren't really close this year. So he isn't exactly doing a good job.Kraftster wrote:Do you think Snow has done poorly as a GM?Kovy27 wrote:LOL! And he somehow let a team who gave the Pens fits last year get worse.
Or, at the very least, has done nothing to improve their glaring weaknesses.

Re: Oilers trade Dubnyk to Nashville
i don't really understand this. they were in the bottom 5 in the entire league for 5 straight years, and the best they could do in that time with those draft picks was develop a team that plateaued at a first round playoff loss (and i don't believe they even make the playoffs last year if it was a full season). not to mention the makeup of the team is completely unbalanced, with the glaring holes at defense and goaltending not even attempted to be filled. and then there's the 2011 disgrace that he was completely complicit in.Kraftster wrote:I think Snow has done an above average job at worst.
what has he done even average?

looks like Dubnyk is on waivers. I feel for this guy. I do not think he is nearly as bad as things have sort of played out for him.
