Some rather strange omissions: Hudler (who leads all CZechs in NHL scoring); Vrbata....

The biggest disapproval among fans, though, is Barinka (coach Hadamczik's son-in-law) over Hejda or Polak

Rozsival? Not exactly the kind of player I would've picked.

Yup. Call me deranged, but Nedved is my favorite Penguin of all time. I still wear 93 to this day because of him. I knew he was doing well in the pro leagues over there so I'm glad I'll get to see him again.

He wasn't on the team in 2010, and it wasn't because he was hurt (he played 82 games that year with the Rangers). Nothing has really changed aside from the fact he's gotten 4 years older.

Not sure he brings anything better than a guy like Jan Hejda or Roman Polak, both of which made the 2010 team.

Smid is good on big ice and Hejda isn't...?

That's an old team, eh? Who's under 25 or 26 on that team? Gudas, Voracek, Palat...anyone else really? Frolik?

When I saw someone mention Nedved on Facebook, I honestly thought it was a joke. I guess all those nostalgic Pens fans will love seeing Nedved, Jagr, and (to a lesser extent) Roszival on the ice at the same time.

Jagr and Nedved are the same age, yet the writer is slamming only Nedved as being old.

Ok...

I'm stoked for Nedved, as mentioned above. I may end up DVR'ing every game in the tournament at this rate now that I have to watch all the Czech games.

I don't have much to add, this is my Nedved Post (93rd) and I felt obligated to spend it here. ;)

Or Selanne. Or Alfredsson. I guess it's ok to be old as long as you're in the NHL.

Remember when the Flyers signed Nedved to be their shutdown center?

That said, he is one of my favorite Pens from the 90s.

In 1998, The Hockey Gods saw fit to award the Czechs. And while I don't think they will do so again, I am predicting a Czech upset of someone, and NO medal, but they will not be the worst team there.

Of course they won't be the worst team there. That's typically your Norway/Slovenia/Austria/Latvia type teams.

Doesn't mean that this Czech team won't severely underperform. In fact, I'd put money on a Norway/Slovenia/Austria/Latvia beating them.
