I guess the USA selections will be known at point during the winter classic. ?
The only reason I watch wings v leafs.
Fingers-crossed for one or both; Martin & Brooks! I don't know ... who's to say M Niskanen doesn't make the team. ?

Chechens have threatened to "disrupt" the Olympics, and it looks like the "disruption" has begun.
Those terrorists seem much more brash than the activites we see elsewhere in the world. Look no further than Beslan. I really am worried about this. There is no direct way in or out of Sochi from abroad - meaning lots of flights and trains moving people around the Soviet Union.

Attacking the games might be difficult - I'm sure Alpha and Vympel will be there in force. But these soft targets like trains, small airports, celebrity and corporate parties would be much easier.

Yes. This is a real concern.

A former US Security official was on CBS This Morning, and said the same thing. He said the Chechens know to focus on the soft targets, and know Russian security forces will be spread too thin to do anything about it.

Are there going to be any Penguins on the US roster? Martin and Orpik are most likely out with the injuries they have/had recently. Same with BB.

You seem to forget who the head coach and GM are of the US team... 8-)

Canada will announce its roster on Jan. 7 in Toronto, but Yzerman said he could pick his team today, if he had to.

With some great goaltending, which they have plenty of, they should be serious gold medal contenders. The more I look at this roster, the more I like it.
Honestly, they have the 2nd best goalie tandem behind Finland. If they can wear down Canada and Russia...they'll be fine.
I'm not as keen on Finland's goaltending as I was before Rinne's infection problems. They still have Rask and Niemi, but I think Rinne would have started the majority of the games, in my opinion. Still, the depth is there.
What is the status on Rinne? Will he be back soon?

I still think Rask will be fine with Niemi backing him up...if Rinne isn't ready.
It'll be interesting to see how Rask plays without the Bruins D in front of him

I thought we had about a dozen threads discussing Fleury's Olympic chances, did they all get whacked?

Anyway, just adding some fuel to this fire...Martin Brodeur - a player that has been involved in New Jersey personnel decisions to some degree - says that Fleury should be on Team Canada.

Bobby Mac just tweeted this lineup:

Crosby, Toews, Tavares, Getzlaf, Bergeron, Couture, Benn, Duchene, Sharp, Stamkos, Giroux, Nash, Perry, St. Louis.
Keith, Bouwmeester, Vlasic, Hamhuis, Doughty, Weber, Pietrangelo, Subban.
Price, Luongo, Smith.

Honestly, Rick Nash's inclusion on this list might be even worse than Bobby Ryan not making Team USA.

You can see all the listings for all all events here: http://www.nbcolympics.com/tv" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And then use the schedule to find the channel for whatever game you're looking for: http://www.iihf.com/competition/olympic ... edule.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Not sure if the NBC scheule is accurate though, but I think this page will be the one to use as the Games get closer: http://www.nbcolympics.com/sport/hockey" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Says "coming soon." They had a pretty good setup for London for finding listings.

I saw that too and was surprised BMac had him in. He had to know he was borderline going into the season and hasn't done enough to go. May still go on reputation I guess?

Oh, I'm sure they'll replay a bunch if not all the games all day and night. They're using 5 channels again.

8hr time difference (we were spoiled in 2010). USA-Rus prelim is on at 7:30 a.m. I may be sick that morning.

If they stream everything for free again...my work productivity...yeah.

At least the semis are on a Friday, and the medal games are on Sat-Sun.
