@TSNquizmaster: If Quincey and Wilson are suspended - plus Engelland - that would be 11 suspensions resulting from 11 days of NHL games Dec. 7-17.

in news that isn't terribly surprising, oates thinks wilson's hit was clean.
so when you're a forward and you dump a puck in with the sole intent to line a guy up, it's ok because the guy sees it coming - no matter how much of a distance you travel. but if that guy has his head up his butt, and gets plastered, it's a penalty? and a match penalty at that?
i don't get it.

No supplemental discipline for Cap's Wilson.

Spezza might have the prettiest highlight real goals. Hes great at combining an undressed defender with a great finish.

Should qualify that with a solid "against Columbus".pens2005 wrote:Flyers scored 3 goals with under 5 minutes to go.

That one was all luck... there's no way you can truly aim in that situation... you're just throwing the puck in the general direction of the net and Columbus is one of those teams that are prone to strange occurrences.

Any more luck than the one Malkin scored against Carolina? I think there are times where players go into a mind mode where they are able to do feats like this and it may have been one of those special moment for Giroux. Luck or not, it was brilliant.the wicked child wrote:That one was all luck... there's no way you can truly aim in that situation... you're just throwing the puck in the general direction of the net and Columbus is one of those teams that are prone to strange occurrences.

The one where Malkin was actually able to see the net and not shooting from a ridiculous angle that would be hard to score on even if you were looking right at the net? Then yeah, a lot more luck.Sarcastic wrote:Any more luck than the one Malkin scored against Carolina? props to him, it's a nice highlight for sure, but I will stop short of calling it brilliant. He had enough presence of mind to fling the puck into an area where he had a chance to score, but 99/100 he doesn't score there.

Kind of reminds me of the goal sid scored a few years back against the coyotes falling backwards.

Re: Other NHL games 2013-2014 season
Sid was at least looking at the net and in a scoring position... definitely some luck, but I never felt like that was zomg best goal evar either.
I dunno, maybe it's my anti-Flyer glasses at work, but I can't personally give Giroo much credit. If that makes me a homer in those regards, I will gladly accept the label.
I feel like that goal only gets scored against a team like Columbus, or against Fleury in the playoffs.![Popcorn :pop:](./images/smilies/popcorn.gif)

Re: Other NHL games 2013-2014 season
I agree that it was 50% luck, 40% desperation and 10% knowing where the net was. I highly doubt he could repeat it.
