Re: Other NHL games 2013-2014 season
The new Leafs are cruel. They used to just be mediocre all year, not giving their fans any hope. Now, they come out strong then plummet like a rock after all their fans and the media starts talking about them as being serious competitors for the Cup.
Cruel but also hilarious.

Chicago appears to be running away with the most points again.

Caps tied it late and won in OT? That never happens

Was tied late ao i assume the two teams traded goals. I guess it technically could have been a comeback.

Re: Other NHL games 2013-2014 season
Yeah, I think the Isles scored with a little under two to go...and then the Caps took a penalty, shorthanded they throw it all the way down, Chimera races down the ice, makes a little mess, it gets thrown out in front to Backstrom who scores shorthanded with less than a minute left...to be fair, the Isles only out-numbered the Caps by one, they were powerless...

I'm not enjoying the Flyers' Steve Mason Era. He essentially stole another one last night.
He's the hero they need but not the one they deserve.

I like to think he's suckering the Flyers into giving him a long-term, big-money deal and will then completely implode.Lt. Dish wrote:I'm not enjoying the Flyers' Steve Mason Era. He essentially stole another one last night.

Oh, sure, I get what you're saying, Idoit. But it's also fascinating watching the Phanimals in their natural habitat when the Flyers are bad.Idoit40fans wrote:Its more fun when the flyers are good.

Giroux is still figuring things out this year; it's really Mason and Couturier doing much of the heavy lifting helping them to crawl back into the picture.largegarlic wrote:I like to think he's suckering the Flyers into giving him a long-term, big-money deal and will then completely implode.Lt. Mason's an RFA after this year, so things will get interesting sooner rather than later.

I keep waiting for Holmgren to blow it up. That place would either go berserk or would pretend they never thought he would take them anywhere.Lt. Either Philadelphia is really bad or Minnesota is really good. I'd believe both.

Re: Other NHL games 2013-2014 season
Philadelphia, as I've said, has done an about-face on their style. Much more defensive now. As evidenced by fringe NHL goalie Ray Emery giving up just a deuce and a half per game...but Minnesota, they stick to you...remember Mike Yeo came in and tried to open them up and get things moving, it's not like that anymore...they eat up lanes, they play you tough - even though their defense is a little under-manned...a lot of anonymous guys on their blueline over the years that even send the biggest hockey fanatics to their programs...but you chip n' chase and you think you're just gonna waltz right in on them? No sir. You've got one in the oven when you chip it in on them, you chip, Clayton Stoner is glued to you...you chip, Jared Spurgeon is going to skate in your lane...
Then they got a terrific goalie in Josh Harding...great guy, great goaltender...and then they got a really good mix of forwards, a lot of young guys up front...it's an interesting team...good balance, good mix...they can play a few styles too if the situation calls for it...but mostly, they want to slow you down big time...

Re: Other NHL games 2013-2014 season
I watched the end of that game and watched the guys come over an congratulate Harding on his SO win... the roster that MN has amassed is impressive. Outside of the star power, Pominville, Cooke, Konopka, Rupp, Ballard... Yeo has a shot to get these guys playing a game that is as fast as it is tough.mikey287 wrote:Philadelphia, as I've said, has done an about-face on their style. Much more defensive now. Sounds like the Pens will fare great against them.
