Not good for McPhee that he traded Forsberg for Erat and now Erat wants to leave.

The writing is kind of funny.

"Erat seems so upset he'd like a trade out" follow up by Erat's quote "I want out as quickly as possible."
-Hmm, yeah, that seems like he wants out!

"Erat hinted that he spoke with the GM" follow up by "Yes, we talked about how to resolve this."
-Is that a hint or an admission?

I would chalk it up to translation, but the way it's worded made me laugh a bit.

“I get no time on the ice, it’s hard to prove my ability with only ten to twelve minutes of ice time,” Erat explained. “At the beginning of the season it was only about seven minutes, and then it went up, so [Adam Oates] let me play more defense than offense.”

I thought that this was a bad deal for the Caps when they made it. Erat is okay, but nothing great. I thought of it more as a panic trade where other teams were making moves and McPhee was worried about not getting anything done, so he overpaid. He is going to find it difficult to move that $4.5M.

I don't want him, unless the Caps are going to take 1/2 of his salary cap hit.

Great work, McPhee. You have no leverage at all now and are trying to move a 32 yr old guy who makes 4.5mil and isn't too special. Oh yeah, you traded Forsberg for him too.

Erat got the screwjob there. That was a terrible trade by McPhee.

Well, out of Nashville, because he didn't want another re-build. He thought the Caps were a good fit for him while also being a contender, so he approved the trade. I'm sure he would have taken Boston, San Jose, Vancouver, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Detroit, etc.

I knew he requested a trade out of NSH but I thought there was a little more to it, like he specifically requested a trade to the Caps. I'll see if I can dig up the quote.
